I focused on black people because you are a black man. Shouldn’t a discussion involving race be relevant to who is participating?

I’m fascinated by this discussion. In aother thread (according to you), I’ve destroyed the forum and you stopped posting. So, you immediately begin posting in a thread I started, I who caused a ‘wake of destruction’! Maybe this should go into my Young People Are Fascinating Thread?

This is not a flame, Prof: Ask your dad, a minister and man of God, his opinion of what CBS is doing. I am simply curious and have lots of respect for your father.

You are a very funny man. I don’t have to ask my dad. I know the man better than anyone and he, like me, would treat it like it is just one more piece of shit not worth the attention. I have NEVER watched Survivor…not ONE episode. To begin now would be giving them exactly what they want…RATINGS.

True, no evidence of its total crap-ness has been proven. However, even you have to admit that there is a definite bias to the findings.

The one group that generated the data identified themselves as being a conservative group dedicating to proving liberal media bias. Hardly an objective position to start off from. They have a definite interest in “proving” that the MSM is liberal.

The other group is from a university that, more than likely, got a research grant to do their research from a source that has a vested interest in “proving” that the MSM is liberal. I can’t prove the second statement, so understand that it is just my guess based on experiences in writing for grant money from a previous life.

So, while no one can prove “total crap-ness” from these links, they, much like any data generated on this topic, must be taken with a grain of salt. I could just as easily go and find links that prove that the MSM is not liberal, but chances are that they would be from a liberal biased source. It is up to us to sift through the BS and figure out what is going on.

I will say that knewsom is correct in one regard. This is about getting ratings and making money. Unfortunately, in this country there is big money to be made from exploiting race, race relations, racism and hatred. It is something, whether people want to admit it or not, that is ingrained the identity of this country. It was founded that way and has prospered that way. This show is just one of the many outcomes of that mindset.

you really have no idea what you’re talking about, do you? the format of the show is to start off with multiple teams, and once enough people have been eliminated (each week there are two challenges, one of the challenges determines which team has to send someone home), they MERGE THE TRIBES.

The caucasian team CANT WIN because NONE of the initial teams could “win”. this is just elimination rounds. Once the teams are merged, eliminations continue until there is one person left.

Hence, “survivor”. I have watched the show in the past - idiotic? Yes. However, I work in the industry. (though not for survivor) sometimes I’m exposed to stuff I’d never actually watch otherwise. Of note, the cinematography in that show is freakin’ awesome.

It amuses me when he brags about his intellectual prowess. The next breath he’s talking about wielding THE BLADE.

Thanks for letting me know. I wouldn’t have known he was THE BLADE. I find him amusing more than anything else. He has some good points at times, but they get so mixed up in other nonsense that you can’t really pay much attention to them.

I agree that things around here have gotten dull.

How hard is it to find articles debunking crap studies? Not very. Instead of wasting time typing conspiracy theories about the findings, spend 10 minutes to find something credible debunking the findings.

Calm down doogie. You need to not take this so personally. I’m not saying that you are right or wrong. I’m just pointing out that scientific studies in the social arena aren’t always black and white. They are subject to interpretation. Furthermore, I never said the studies were crap. I said that there is always a purpose behind them. Just because it came from a university, doesn’t mean it doesn’t have an agenda behind it.

Aren’t you part of the group of people that are always bashing universities for being biased? Oh yeah, that’s right, your group of people only complains when it is something you DON’T agree with. Be consistent, either universities are biased or they are not. You can’t have it both ways.

Just because you don’t like what I said, doesn’t mean I am trying to make conspiracy theories. I also noticed that you picked only one out of the two links that you posted to try to shoot down what I said. What about the other one? Am I completely wrong about that one too? Maybe he is half African-American and half Latin-American and chose to go to the African-American tribe. The big question is, who cares? Survivor should have been gone after 2 seasons. It’s a gimmick that has been played out. It is now trite and boring, much like most reality TV.
