Nah… He can just invent a Greek tragedy-style ending to the present story. Why not? He keeps changing the other details.
For example, he can pull an “Oedipus” and kill the older guy in the other country and marry the girl who cheated on him. Then later, he can find out that the guy was his biological father and the girl is his actually his twin sister who was separated at birth.
