It’s a ridiculous, silly and petty attack, with no basis in fact.,
Look JP. There are literally dozens of areas in which the church of Rome is vulnerable to legitimate attack. I have spent a LOT of time studying Catholicism and still haven’t found nearly all of them. WHY would you pick something that hands my dear ol buddy Pat a club like this one does. He’s actually right. No official statement of that church has ever declared diety upon the pope. What’s ironic is that some of the soundest and most conclusive refutation of Roman Catholicism is found in the writings of, you guessed it, PAUL the apostle. Who you somehow believe is the fulfillment of ancient prophecies of apostasy and deception.
He he is Peter’s disciple, >>>
Maybe now, but he wasn’t while here on earth. Actually Paul had to rebuke Peter and Peter was the one who was impressed with Paul’s writings. Paul also told the Galatians that the existing honchos had virtually no input in his ministry. You know all this Chris, what kinda screwiness are you gonna hit me with now? Brother Chris: Is a decretal not a papal decree concerning canon law?

Here is a Catholic viewpoint regarding the exact document I posted; http://oce.catholic.com/index.php?title=Liber_Sextus_Decretalium

Are you still on how doing a very poor job of translating Latin to English in word order proves the Pope considered himself God? LOL!

Like ‘e pluribus unum’, we have been translating it wrong all along it’s really ‘of more one’.

I’ll give you this, few people have tried so hard to force a nonfactual argument with so much gusto.

Why do you say this? Technically he was a disciple of Jesus, but being as Jesus was no longer there to instruct, and the Church is the Bulwark and Pillar of truth, built on Cephas…Cephas would have taught Paul as Paul received his Apostleship from Peter and James…or Cephas and James.

What does this have to do with anything? There have been plenty of Saints who have rebuked Popes, but that is the thing…they didn’t deny that there was a Pope…that is why they are Saints and not Calvin or Luther. I guess it pays off to actually do as King commands his Holy Warriors to go about doing his business.

Please show that this is true.

You won’t like this, but I must be the most ignorant baptized man in the world…because I have never heard that in my entire life…even as a Calvinist…in seminary.

Church was headquartered in Rome. Oh, did I mention that both St. Peter, the rock that Jesus built his Church on died in Rome…and so did St. Paul?

Yes, just like I’m catholic, and the Pope is the Roman Pontiff of the catholic Church. Literally, it is mere capitalization. Catholic means catholic, whether it is capitalized or not. Your protests otherwise hold no weight in this debate…as there is not actually a debate about this.

…again, my ignorance betrays me.

Geography joke.

You (Brother Chris) had earlier written something like, “He has a lot to be worried about …” apparently referring to JayPierce. JayPierce’s location shows as Alabama. Look at Alabama’s position relative to the Florida panhandle on a map. Imagine south as “down”; imagine the tip of Florida sitting on or tenuously attached to a surface or object “underneath”; let’s suppose Louisiana and Arkansas aren’t there; Mississippi is greased so no friction; etc.

Work with the man (Tiribulus) a little.

You’ll have to forgive dearest Christopher. The more sacerdotally sanctified he becomes, the harder it is to joke around with him. it’s a shame too because he’s really a fun guy. I think he’s allergic to monk cloth or something.

My dry wit comes through text like wind through a brick wall. I find pride in my ability to take nothing serious by salvation, and I God has humbled me by allowing me to become an old cuss. However, I have to admit that your spot on about something tragic happening in my life. It has sapped a lot of my ability to find humor in your anti-Catholicism…as my mentor Gilbert would.

I apologize for any short comings in the area of being poor in spirit. The only time you’ll find me around ash and cloth is during confession and if the CFR’s took me hostage. I’d have every low born woman west of the Rockies at the monastery’s gate to break me out if I ever took my first vows.
