Casein Protein

I have ON’s Casein protein for slow absorbing protein throughout the day and before sleep, but it keeps sticking to the shaker. that means a lot is wasted and I have to struggle to clean it after I use it and it smells bad if I leave it there.

is that a fact of casein powder in general? or is there another cheap brand of it out there?

I use the same kind due to being able to get it cheap. I usually mix 1 scoop of ON 100% Whey and 1 scoop of ON Casein. What I have found works best is if I put in the Whey first and then the Casein. Since the whey is first, it spreads out to the side of the shaker, then the Casein sits on top. I shake it and the casein never has a chance to stick to the edge.

Metabolic Drive has casein in it and I’ve never had a problem mixing it. Sometimes I even use those plastic containers that you get the soup in when you order chinese food, and I’ve never even had a problem in that.

You guys do realize that Metabolic Drive is high quality and does not stick to the sides of a shaker? And it is really competitively priced here on this site.

Not to bash that company, or anything, things might have changed, but IMO ON must produce the worst proteins of any company.

I’ve tried alot of proteins in my day, and all, repeat all of their shit gave me crazy gas. And I’m known to have an iron stomach in my family.

I read in Dr. Colgan’s book where it said that if a protein gives you gas, its verly low quality and probably loaded with sugars.

Anytime I see a company selling big 10 lb. bag dogfood sized bags of protein for crazy cheap prices I stay away.

You’ve got to understand most of this industry is full of shit and there is blatant mislabeling, and switching, etc. and you really don’t know what you’re getting. and you’re probably dumping your money away.

I personally only trust a few componay’s, Biotest one of them.

My former manager gave me a jug because he didn’t like it. I made a shake with it that night and almost threw up after the first sip. After the second sip and throwing it up in my mouth, I poured it down the sink and threw the jug in the trash.

I have no clue about the quality, but I found it to be quite nasty.

hmmm. Now I’m wondering about all the protein I bought at proteinfactory.com
After I use this stuff up, maybe I’ll stick to Biotest.

heh, yeah, I guess ON’s powder is a piece of shit. it gives me gas too. But it’s cheap:P

Biotest’s Metabolic Drive is a blend and they don’t say how much whey vs casein it is. I have a good source of whey isolate, I’m looking for slow-absorbing for not after workouts

Majority of the protein in milk is casein protien. A quart of milk has 32 grams of protein and is like $2. I drink a gallon of milk a day, thats 144 grams of protein for less than $5!

Pour the protein powder in AS the blender is spinning around with whatever liquid you have inside.
This should prevent it from sticking.

I love it…

It just seems odd that people out there still believe that certin types of brands use “higher quality” in their supplaments and swear that other companies use the opposite.

You ever heard of people say tyson chicken is better quality than the off brand? Or ever heard of generic forms of prescription drugs that arent effective as there name brand cousins?

I believe in Biotest’s supplaments and I am using at least 2 at this exact time, but I just cant stand people being mislead. I’m was in the sales industry at one time and it rampant EVERYWHERE. Do your own research and find the truth…it is out there.

And while your here reading order some HOT-ROX and Metabolic Drive, there great products that I am using currently. But I also have many more diffrent supplaments that arent made by Biotest.

I’ve bought supplements from Biotest, I’ve bought supplements from EAS, ON, Met-Rx, NOW, etc, etc.

The reason Metabolic Drive doesn’t “clump” is that it’s 55% whey and 45% casein, I believe, or at the best 50/50. I must say, all the flavors I had tasted great and no qualms whatsoever.

Recently I had tried 100% casein and realized it clumps like the poster was saying (estimate 5 - 10 g clumping). ON puts in 100% casein, that’s most likely the reason for the clumping. To me, if you want pure casein, buy the product with only casein (not whey) in it.

I can’t completely agree with the above poster as 1fast does send samples to labs and some companies fail to meet the claims.

Digestion issues, hell it could be increased amounts of protein causing this or maybe you need some probiotics, they seemed to do the trick for me.

To the OP, the best bet is to mix it once, drink it down and add more water and mix it again, if you’re really worried about 5 grams of protein.

try putting in water first, then adding the powder.

worst case, just use a spoon to scrape off the powder that gets stuck to the sides, it actually tastes pretty good.

I’ve used Casein and NOTHING I tried stopped it from sticking. I just get my casein from cottage cheese and milk instead. It’s easier.

Who is trying to mislead someone? Do I work for Biotest? No.

You’re missing the point completely if your comment was addressed to me.

I hate to break this to you, but yes there are different quality levels of supps, And you’re way off base if you think all companies use the same ingredients from the same resources. That might be the dumbest thing I’ve heard.

But my point wasn’t even about quality, it was about truth in labeling. I use a variety of supps from a few companies. But, you must realize that the supplement industry isn’t heavily regulated so a bunch of these companies are fly by night and aren’t even putting in the jug what they say is on the label.

I said if it gives you gas, it’s probably a shitty protein product. What a coincidenece another poster experienced the same thing. Shit is shit, no matter how you want to disguise it.

I wasn’t singling you out man. I’m just telling the dude to do his own research and use those findings to base his decisions.
