Cars - American Cool

I have had a few cars in my life. The '67 mustang and even a Honda CRX

Not really interested in a muscle car gas hog at this point in my life. I do live in Houston

Nice thread idea. Plenty of these slipped past me since I’ve had the “foreign is better” blinders on.
The late '70’s and '80’s and part of the '90’s reigned hell on the American car reputation. And rightfully so, they were making garbage. But things are much better now.

The bean counters at GM, Ford and Chrysler should have been shot, resurrected and shot again for what they did to cars.

Which part?

Across the street from our house in Kemah the Target has a “car spot” every Saturday night. Everyone from the surrounding area brings their muscle cars, old cars etc. Pretty cool.

well it’s built in SC
they just decided to expand the plant to build a plug-in hybrid X5 and the X7. the X7 is the one you want isn’t it?
The wife has the X6, I will be getting the Z4 next year when this lease is up.
which Z4?
Dont know yet, dont want to shop cause I still have to wait a year.
I know what you mean. I’m looking at a 72 Cutlass convertable and trying how to justify it this year before it’s snatched up. oh well, there’s always next yr and another car.
Im in a weird time in my life, no kids, 99% of my time driving I am by myself. I am a manager and work in a clinic. My house is almost brand new and nothing I need a truck for. So why not something fun to drive.
exactly. you should get what you want. it sounds like it will fit you perfectly.
I’ve always been a fan of ragtops and something about the Cutlass just calls to me.
It’s not ugly.
You could get a 350 or a 455 in '72, obviously you know which one to shoot for.
Of course, '72 is the year they started with that pollution control bullshit, so the compression on the motors starting in '72 went down as well as the horsepower. '73 and '74 is when it really tanked. A '70 would be better out of the box. Of course, all that stuff is fixable with a little elbow grease. But there is still no replacement for displacement, get the 455.

this is about looks, not power, as it has the Rocket 350 with Eddelbrock manifold with a 4bbl and Flowmasters. this is a cruiser that will see a lot of miles.
I’m really not looking for a street rod, but if I was, I would be looking for a twin turbo awd Supra and go full stg III.

.

I’ll take one of these in black, no stripes, and with 2 turbos instead of the blower.

Oh good grief, is this what we have to put up with on an American car thread? Really?
just being honest since everyone is talking about newer models. how much foreign material is in an American car nowadays? come on now…be truthful. people still call Tundras Japanese but they are built in “By God Texas.”
if I was going for an “American” beast that I wouldn’t have to do a lot to it would be a 67 Plymouth GTX Hemi, 70 J Code 429 Torino, or a 69 AMC AMX 390. I know most of the talk here is about the new cars but it’s all in what you like and a lot of the new cars just don’t do it for me.

purple is a cool color

If i ever bought a “muscle car” it would be this.

cool for a vette, the new stingray is grotesque looking.

Funny you say that. The new 'vette is the only one I have ever liked. The Z06 looks like it is going to give a lot of cars two or three times the price tag a run for their money whether it’s a straight line or around a track.

The Hennesey Venom GT, while not being 100% American in my opinion, recently set the world’s fastest “production car” speed at over 270mph!

The new Dodge SRT Viper looks pretty impressive too.

the only modern mustang worth the metal it’s made out of

mopar made the best looking muscle cars

I’m not saying the new performance cars are bad, they are technological wonders. blow the doors off the one’s I mentioned. I just love the look of the 60s and 70s, especially the old “Muscle” cars.
67 GTX Hemi
