That’s exactly why they’ll be “more special” than the cars currently being bought by balding middle age men.

I thought we were talking about what we could buy now that a balding middle aged man in 30 years would want to buy and make a profit on it?

But, I do agree with you on the type of cars that might be worth some money in 30 years. Those rice burner turbos are the cars a lot younger people are into now. And they are tearing them up at a pretty good pace. So, if you got your hands on one now in mint condition, when these kids today are middle aged balding men they might drive up a demand?

I think my issue with predicting what will be rare and valuable in the future is the fact that i can go out today, and buy a brand new GT500 if i hand the money. So to say it will be rare or anything other than just a GT500 in 20yrs is difficult.

0% chance of finding a worthwhile Type-R today if i had the money. Might take a few months to find one. Therefore it’s already rare and special.

Why are you comparing a new car today to a 16 year old car? In 1998, I could’ve walked into any Honda dealer in the US and gotten an Integra Type R. And like Pat said, if the Civic Si, Integra Type R, and Supra are becoming more and more rare, it’s only because so many of their current owners have raped them with cold air intakes, coffee can exhausts, and fiberglass body kits.

Which is kinda sad in a way. I had a '90 CRX and I would love to have that car back in it’s original condition. It was a great little car. You cannot find one that hasn’t been destroyed. There’s no money in it, but if I had the money, I would get one and restore it like new. It would be an act of love for the car, I wouldn’t expect a profit. I just think that car was cool.
I am glad kids tune their cars, I just wish there were some good original examples left.
Of course, I want to mildly modify my car, but nothing big. The Ford Racing power pack gives it a nice mild bump in HP. And the suspension kit give a modest 1 in drop, but really tightens up the handling characteristics. Aluminium drive shaft as well, maybe a 90 mm throttle body. But if I did all that, you really wouldn’t be able to tell anything was done to the car, unless you parked it next to a stock one and noticed it was a hair lower. But as far as looks, I think it looks the best the way it came, I don’t want to add a thing to the looks.
And I cannot for the life of me figure out why anybody puts a fake hood scoop on their cars. To me that is the world’s dumbest mod. All it does is create drag. If the scoop doesn’t feed air in to something, it need not be on the car, but I see tons of fake hood scoops…why?

not cool

I’d replace the second row with 911’s but a pretty awesome random garage from the internet.

I wish it were my garage.

Oh come on… The HUGE wing in the back is ultra cool. It makes it go faster.
At least the wheels match and there’s no primer anywhere.

Hah, that’s an Ontario car… I’m not surprised

You have to be careful there are some pretty bad ass civics/crxs out there.

And frankly, other than the hood thing, that one actually appears to have had reasonably quality body work.

It almost looks like it has the V6 from the TL under the hood. Doubtful, but it also has Bride seats which are $$$.

Dodge has released the new Challenger SRT Hellcat Edition. 600+HP Supercharged Hemi

^ I love the specs on it. The looks are almost too understated. I want maybe just a bit more visual excitement.

Although I suppose that restraint from an “American” car company should be applauded.

American supercar:

Vector W8, sold for nearly $500k in 1990. Chevy 6L V8 coupled to a 3 speed slush box. Top speed of 242 mph, 0-60 in 4.2 seconds.

Oh hell yes! That is sweet. I love the headlight delete… Nice touch.

Ha! I had totally forgotten about the Vector.
I bet getting replacement parts is tough.

A complimentary video to your post:

Thanks for bringing the Vector up.

Sadly only 17 Vector W8’s were made.
Rumor has it, the origional owner is back in control and trying to spit out another car. We’ll see. There was a prototype boasting of 1850 HP in 2007, never made it to production sadly…

Thanks for remembering the Vector.

(Studebaker) Avanti II

These always had a spot in my heart because I had a neighbor who owned 2 of them while I was growing up. Long, convoluted history that I won’t go into here, but they’ve caught a wind in the collector’s market and are starting to appreciate.

I have a friend whose dad was an Avanti dealer. I don’t think they ever caught on that well here.

Where’s here? MI?
