Anyone have any experience with those websites that pay your repair bills?
From what I understand, you pay into it like insurance, then when you need to take your car to the shop, they pay for it.
I’m just curious as I’m looking into getting a new car for the first time in like 10 years and if it’s worthwhile, I’d consider going with that deal. Anyone know anything about these sites?
I’ve seen what you’re talking about…I’d be weary…
- ask yourself How do they stay inn business? They make a profit.
Aure you could argue thato nly 1/10 people who signs up actually has to redeem their services and thats how they profit, or…
They have crafty wording in the policy. Think about it, if they say they cover the “engine block” how often does your block need repair? rarely. so your engine gaskets need to be repalced and “oh we dont cover the gaskets, just the block itself”
it says it covers “radiator” and your radiator pump goes out, sorry not covered.
it says it covers transmission, and your tranny goes out, WINNER, RIGHT?? oh , wait, you can’t prove that you have been taking care of your tranny and that you had enough fluid in it the whole time, so its YOUR FAULT, therefore, THEY WONT COVER IT.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT DO IT! I can imagine its acutally every helped anyone, unless someone chimes in and says so, I’d be SHOCKED!!!
Just buy a decent car with low miles (under 100k) and take care of it. avoid foreign cars (VW, AUDI, BMW, Jag, etc) cause repair costs are super high.

Japanese cars excluded of course. Really you mean avoid European cars which I would agree with.
james
Most new cars come with what I consider mind blowingly inclusive and long term warranties- Like bumper to bumper, everything but oil and wiper fluid, for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
yes, european…
and OP are you talking about buying a BRAND NEW car??? if so then WTF are you THINKING with some third party bullshit repair cost helper?
Haha, no, I’m not getting a new car. I’m just trying to get a perspective on what would be a good car and was going to factor in the websites I was asking about if they’re actually legit. I’m trying to get an 08 or 09 model. Thanks for the info, so I won’t worry about those sites. My instincts were telling me they weren’t a good deal and you reinforced it big time.
