According to my grandfather it is. During the great depression the only candy they had to eat was sugar on bread. I know this because he’s told me at least a thousand times. This teaches us an important lesson: living through great hardship will turn you into a jerk.

Dude, they are STILL eating sugar sandwhiches in most ghettos in this country. I ate them as a kid. Tell your grandfather he isn’t special.

My mother says she remembers going for weeks with just a slice of bread with sugar and a pat of butter on it each day.

I think you should consider, at the very least, taking some classes at a culinary school. Packaging and marketing are the least of your concerns if you can’t even produce a consistent product, every single time.
You can’t. Unless your kitchen is completely self-contained, you cannot get a commercial rating. There are commercial kitchens that rent specifically to boutique producers and caterers, there are restuarants that will do the same renting space after hours.

I’m not sure if I can at all do this out of my kitchen. I’m not sure if I could get any health permits, so I will need to have a place where I can make them.

The last thing I want to do is go to school again. I do know what is involved and how I can make a good product, it is just not as precise when done by hand compared to a fully automated process. Just think about home made stuff. What my Grandma makes for example all look different.
Do you think there are perhaps plants that rent space out? I don’t think restaurants have equipment that I need. If I rent a caterer’s space I would be officially allowed to sell my product than? I guess I should ask the town.

Why do you think that you have a great idea?
There are giants in that business as I’m sure you’re aware of: Hershey, Mars, Nestles etc.
How will you compete with them?
Because it tastes great! Its not exactly a candy bar, not exactly ice cream and not exactly dairy, but a combination. Its very unique. Thanks again:)

Hasn’t this already been done? You know those snickers ice cream chocolate bars?
