Ended up grabbing some flat soled shoes from iron tanks (bastards offered me a 10 dollar discount for signing up to their news letter, like they knew I’d be swayed by such offers lol)
I dunno if this counts as bad news but they have big sales all the time 20-25% off everything if u wanted to wait. It’s where I got my pioneer belt from saved 50 bucks on sale

¼ pause squats (or whatever, I don’t know what to call them): 3 @ 140,150,160,170kg
Tempo squats (5 seconds down, 5 seconds up): 2x8 @ 100kg
NG pull ups: 6,8,10 @ BW

Pausing just out of the hole still feels weird.
Other than that everything was pretty normal, I’m surprised being back at work has had as much of an impact as it felt like it would (other than feeling tired/not wanting to go to the gym)
For that position I’ve found pausing 1/4 the way down and then doing the rest of the squat effective. The position on the way down should be same as on way up and this way u can feel it out and get stronger there without messing with the concentric of the squat.
Sunday work out:

Snatch grip DLs: 5x5 @ 160kg

So apparently squatting is bad for your back, especially if you go below half way and all you really need is lunges and leg press.
It’s not the first time I’ve been told/overheard people say this either, do people really get lower back pain from squats?
Other than that work out went well everything felt solid and pretty comfortable.

My arms did not appreciate doing weighted dips this close together, suprisingly DOMs aren’t too bad though.
Was also surprised at how solid squats felt with out a belt.
Also got on a CGM (continuous glucose monitoring) trail.
Good news, the sensor doesn’t get in the way with a belt on ![]()
So it happened, I took another week off from the gym because I got stuck in my own head.

So I’ve been in jackhammer duty all week and sleep has been pretty rubbish work outs were dialled back but I’m still surprised at the lack of DOMs.
Apparently I’m so valuable at work they today asked me if I’d consider coming back up (after I’ve just moved to fucking Melbourne) to work for another month or so because they really need me…
