Calorie Adjustments After Awhile

I have always heard that when losing a large amount of weight you need to adjust calories. For instance If a 200 pound person is trying to lose weight to get to 150 then they go on a calorie deficent but the lower weight the go the less calories your body needs so you have to go on a bigger deficint.

For instance, it the person is eating 2000 calories a day at 200 and losing 2 pounds a week, then at 170 2000 calories will be all his body needs since he weighs less and therefore needs to adjust and go down to 1700 caloris a day. (this is probably confusing) anyway, i was wanting to know if this was true and how often should you adjust. Like every 20 pounds or once you stall in weight loss take it down.

Every couple of weeks I usualy use the average weight of the past week to calculate a new lower BMR and alter my diet accordingly.

Adding/taking away 200-250 calories depending on your goals and results every 2 weeks or so can be a nice way to do things too - nice and simple

This leaves weight training entirely out of the mix.

I would adjust depending on whether or not you’re losing weight.

For me, I’ve gone from 200lbs to currently 186lbs in the past 9 weeks and I made one adjustment to subtract 500 calories, but that wasn’t because of a stall, I just wanted to speed it up a bit. So metabolism seems the same after 14lbs.
