Calling All WoW Nerds!

^I think even more play WoW than any of those shearly because it can be so time consuming it becomes like a virtual life. 80%+ of the population of the game were made up of WoW addicts, not actual video gamers. You can tell if you ever joined a pick up group. Horrible, horrible players. But it’s the same in any mmo…

As for FPS… most FPS games don’t take that much skill. The only FPS game I play these days is the old stand-by, Counter-Strike 1.6 (not Source). This FPS is one of the few where it truly takes years to understand what to do in certain situations, and learn how to control the recoil of an AK or M4, or use the AWP (sniper rifle).

Counter-Strike is the Starcraft 2 of FPS games.[/quote]

Quoted for truth. I’ve watched some pro-level matches and I shit you not, it looks almost like an actual SWAT team drill. Shit like planning timed and coordinated maneuvers through different parts of the map, when to buy which guns, when to save money, when to tactically sacrifice a team member’s life, etc. The precise strategies some of those guys have is unreal.

I just picked WoW back up for Cata, and something to do over winter break. Not going to touch it until finals are over though.

was my favorite.

I played over the summer because I was bored, it’s fun but I have no interest in picking it up again after they messed with skill trees. I had finally gotten to the point where I was pretty darn good at raid healing and have no desire to relearn it or devote so much of my time to it.

Wasn’t ever hard until raiding and then it became so dependent on other people not fucking up that it wasn’t as fun any more.

If I get obscenely bored over the break I might try it again, but I doubt it.

Raid healing as what class?

Also, they made 10 man and 25 man drop the same loot, so there is less dependence on retards to mess it up for you.

I can understand that opinion if you’ve never played any other game besides WoW.

The funny thing is… that’s actually true.

I played WoW Since Burning Crusade dropped until just recently. My RL changed, and as someone said, the game is pretty time consuming. I just couldn’t put in the time any more.

I had an 80 Forsaken DK, an 80 Forsaken Rogue, a 72 Tauren Warrior, and a few others spread out over a few servers. Fun times, until it started to seem like work.

“I wanna go out, but there’s a raid I’m supposed to do…” Fuck that.

I used to play competitively in online leagues from about 2001-2007. I was simply obsessed with the game as a kid, and I was/am quite good. My team actually was pretty good as well… they were located in TX and went to a national LAN event and beat some international teams. However ‘e-sports’ is dying in North America, especially for CS, due to setbacks by some organizations/websites… but it is still thriving and very popular in Europe, namely Sweden, Germany, Poland, Switzerland. Korea and China still love CS too.

Lol mad horse. I remember many arguments in my house…

Mom - Mike [brother], come down for dinner and set the table!

Mike - Mom I got a raid!!! I can’t come down now

This escalates for 5 more minutes.

Mom - I SWEAR TO GOD I’M GONNA UNPLUG THE INTERNET!!!

Mike - I HATE YOU!!!

I think it’s mostly the stereotype. I was still married when I started playing. My ex’s rule was that I could play WoW, but I’m not aloud to LOOK like I play WoW.

I know that sounds shitty, but I was pretty happy to follow that one.

Meh, moderation, thats all.

I dont feel a need to play, its something i do when i have nothing else to do. like right now, im studying for a test next tuesday. I take a 5-10min break every 30min or so, and basically just check this site.

If i was a millionaire, yea id definitely have an amazing game room, and id spend a bit mroe time nerding out. but #1 priority would be becoming a professional bodybuilder. Training and diet would come first, and the games would come afterwards.

Lol moderation, its a difficult thing for some though…in so many ways haha

so…guy at the gym is talking to me during his workout. I ask him where he is going as he walks away. His answer:

“I have to go get in line at EB Games for the new world of warcraft. It gets released at midnight.”

Me: But its only 7:00pm…and all you did was one set of bicep curls.

Then he’s an idiot. Lol- I just bought the Digital version from the patcher online. No standing in line, no DLing from a CD- If i wanted to i could be online the min cata is released. Im glad they did it, made things ridiculously easy.

Alas, i must wake up at 5 tomorrow. Need to do my 30mins of cardio, then an hr for breakfast, clean up and be at school by 8…Ugh…

Let me know what you guys think of the new expansion. It’s gonna be along minute before I have time for games again, but Cataclysm looks epic!

I might’ve even rolled an Ally just to play a Worgen.

Don’t tell anyone though.

this whole thread might as well have been written in brail
