Trying to bulk up, and I am attending a boarding school this year. The cafeteria is just like that of a college so I was wondering if any of you know of any good recipes I could use IN the cafeteria (combining foods, new things to try) that would go towards a clean bulk? For instance I have already been given one great idea, take a pound of whatever lean meat is being served, throw a little cheese in it, some veggies, put it all in a bowl and mix it. I tried that the other night with our dinner, and I must say, it was awesome.
Also, when is the best time to take a weight gainer shake? (Note I will only be able to have HALF serving of it a day, my budget is tight)

I still eat Chanko-style even now. Mix up my meat of choice, vegetables, and (occasionally) starch in a bowl, then zap them in a microwave. My friends think that I can’t cook. Oh, I can, but when it’s time to eat, the sooner I can cook the food and get it in my mouth, the better.
I ate at an university cafeteria for 5 years. Sometimes I ate with the biggest man on the entire campus–I think he tolerated me 'cause we had the same friends and went to the gym. Anyway, I know that for breakfast he ate around 12 hard-boiled eggs without yolk and for lunch he would have 2 or 3 grilled chicken breasts from the deli section (you know, the part of the cafeteria where you can get a sandwich made, if your school has one). For taste he took out and discarded the fattiest parts breasts with his bare hand and dipped the lean meat in a puddle of ketchup.
I just want to tell you flat out NOT to fool yourself in thinking that you can bulk cleanly in the cafeteria. I studied at a pretty expensive school and I avoided 3/4 of the food in there because they weren’t to my health standards. The result? I wasn’t able to gain more than 10 pounds since starting college, and I ate at the cafeteria 4 times daily!
Don’t make my mistake. If you’re trying to gain weight, don’t be a food snob. Just eat what tastes good and goes down well, and eat a lot of it.
Suck up to one of the lunch ladies. Be realy sweet and tell her she reminds you of someone very near and dear to your heart, that you miss a whole lot, (mom,grandma) whoever is appropriate.
Her only recourse will be to reciprocate by heaping your plate with all of the good shit.
I did this in high school. It works.
