Just looking to gather some information form the large pool of knowledge here at T-Nation. Im 18 and currently own a 92 Ford Ranger 4x4. I need to get rid of it as it is 1- unreliable and on the way out and 2- burns too much gas. Im looking to get a new sub-compact/compact. Would like to hear suggestions and expirences.
I was thinking of the Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen City golf, Honda civic, Honda Accent, Toyota Corolla ect… if anybody has expirence with these or other similar cars I would like to hear your opinions. Thanks.
i was just in the same situation and went with the nissan versa.
everyone always has good things to say about civics.
Try to bring someone who has car-buying experience with you. Dealerships are sneaky. I thought I was prepared and went by myself. I ended up with about 4k worth of add-ons that i either didnt need or couldve got through other places.
They charged me $750 for gap coverage which I ended up returning and getting somewhere else for $300.
They charged me 2k for extended warranty that they told me I had no choice in getting. I found out i could return it after 30 days which I am doing. I got a better extended warranty through gieco for $750.
Lowjack cost me about 850. I’d much rather have saved that money, but they wont return it.
Buy yourself a diesel. There is alot of used diesel autos out there you can get and the mileage is wonderful. Go with the diesel, you will not regret it.
Do not go with a car you have to pay payments on, that’s ridiculous. Unless you are a millionaire why would you buy a new car when you can buy a 4 year old used car for 40 percent of what it cost to come off the floor depending on the car.
Plus they usually have the bugs all fixed. I know it’s cool to have the new car, but you’re a kid. I’d much rather have the fast old car then the car I’m worrying about having to pay payments on when I wreck it.
