Busted Knuckle Garage Workouts

Wow, i just skimmed through your log. Very impressive workouts. I’ll be watching quietly hoping to pick up a few nuggets of info.

Lookin’ good, those fs are killing me. Really solid training. How you feeling about the lunges this week?

truthfully I hated them this week, ugh!! But I didn’t want to post the negative vibes, so I reassured myself I was just tired and that I love them and they do a booty good!!! But they were pretty miserable on me, I got this tight left hip flexor wad and it has been giving me fits on & off this week so that was part of the hatred… I have been doing some hip distraction with the band but I just need to get some sleep & proper recovery couple that with a massage & it will go away again.

I’m curious about this too. I just tried kicking up to a wall right now, and I could do it, but I was a few feet out, so not completely vertical. It also felt like hell on my wrists, like they couldn’t support me if I tried a handstand. Do you get stronger wrists if you do this stuff regularly?[/quote]

One other thing that sticks out is your distance from teh wall. Get closer. The farther out you are, the more hyper-extended your wrists are. They don’t like this. I do a lot of handstand work, to include walking on my hands. What worked best for me was just static holds. Kick up to the wall, and just hold it. Start with 10 seconds, and progress from there. When you get to a minute, you should be able to attempt a pushup.
Another thing is to work your core, as well. You’ll feel why if you continue working the handstand.

For your wrists, like N8tive said, work on the things she recommended, but also work on your grip and forearm strength as well. It helped me, so it may help you.

Sorry to hijack, N8tive. I am glad things are getting better. Keep bangin it out!

Beast - not hijacking at all, great advice given for sure. Thanks for chiming in, the more advice the better. Everyone has to find the key that works for them, it always seems to be a bit different for everyone. Good stuff - thanks.

Should have added a band or weight to my pushups, on the last set I did them with my hands on cinderblocks but even at that I should have had more resistance - oh well live and learn. Pretty stoked about the bench press, no spotter but that is nothing new, i felt comfy at that weight and could have squeaked out another rep or 2 but failure is not what I was trying to attain. Everything else was pretty solid also. I am enjoying the bb walkouts, they are nice alt. to the ab wheel as sometimes I avoid it cause I tend to have shoulder issues with it. Off to get kids, cows and chickens fed up for part of the day.

145x5 on bench. That is awesome!!!

awesome bench N8tive!

I would be stoked with a 145 x 5.

Your training is looking mighty fine. Great job on the bench. Hard work pays off!

nice work! are barbell rollouts harder than ab wheel rollouts, would you say? i feel the ab wheel in my shoulder a bit, too, and it has me wary of them. my core definitely isn’t as strong as yours, though!

Alexus~ Um I feel as though the bb rollouts are a better option for me at least, hmmm harder I dont know but you could do them and see if you can do them and if you can’t do them kneeling or only go out as far as you can control it. Doing them does not hurt the shoulder like the ab wheel for me, just cause I am able to set my hands where they need to be not to have the hurty hurt.

Thanks all you wonderful ladies!!

For anyone who cares about Paleo type eating or cutting carbs out here is an interesting Blog and this post is just an awesome thing to know imo…cause who doesn’t love Pizza??

good ideas in there n8tive - I do the omelette pizza and the hubbie loves it.

I’ve done omelette pizza before, and omelette with a bolognese sauce. Eggs are versatile.
