Bush's Latest Blunder...

It’s spelled REAGAN.

You sure you’re a conservative?

Maybe he’s talking about a different Ronald?

ZEB – please, oh please just answer me this: Is it okay for the President of the United States to get Switzerland and Sweden confused to the degree the he did in the example I gave above? Is it acceptable for Bush not to know that Sweden has an army?

Sweden has an army?

Lumpy and vroom:

We are now picking on spelling and or typos? Okay…just want to make sure.

RSU:

It’s always “okay” to make mistakes. Humans make them. Bush is human therefore he makes mistakes.

I think you would be wiser to attack his policys rather than slip ups such as you mentioned. I think that attacking such slip ups simply makes you look bad.

RSU - here I agree with ZEB I think by making a lot to do out of a little thing like this, shows that there isn’t a lot else to go on. Some of the biggest arguments I hear is how bush is a moron. I’m sorry but he isn’t and if thats the best you have, you lose the debate. The goal of a debate is to inform eachother of each others perspectives and views, then discuss how they benefit or degrade, a certain quatitative thing. Now by me saying you lose the debate, what I mean is by you arguing the point that bush is stupid, I know will be less likely to view your perspectives with much respect or credibility as a intelligent free thinking position. Therefore even if you do make a good point or two, your total presentation of the topics is degraded by you insisting on tryig to prove a non quantitative issue. I hope you understand what I am getting at here. I have actually read some things from you lately that have resonated well with me and am now starting to read what you write with more of an open mind and attempt to find solid argument and information and ideas in them. The more (good ideas) vs (bad ideas) in the sense of what I was talking about earlier, the more legitamite your point of view becomes to others.

Besides that whole thing it becomes worse when you understand brain physiology more and you understand that speaking ability, has very little to do with a given persons intelligence. Stephen Hawking has to talk out of a box with a robotic voice, yet you wouldn’t question his intelligence would you? Just like a person can be good at math and not english, there are different areas of our brains that control our different abilities. It is quite clear that bush has a problem with the ability to speak smoothly and clearly all the time. this doesn’t in any way proove he is not intelligent. Lets get to some real issues with so little time left before the election and really hash them out. The theocracy thread and topics like that are what we need to be talking about.

You didn’t answer the question.

RSU:

Actually, if you go back and read your post you asked two questions.

My answer to both was and is yes. People make mistakes and…well go back and read my post

I bet if someone followed you around during the day, in and out of your difficult classes, they would most likely catch you in a verbal error. Happens to plenty of people that I know who have very high IQ’s.

I remind you once again, by dwelling on such things it only makes you look small, and we both know that is not the case.

OK already, OK. Political banter is boring. Does anyone here think that their view is going to influence any other forum member? Have you already made up your mind in regards to your vote? I have. Shut up, vote early. Read more. Relax more

No, you didn’t – I asked if it’s okay for the President of the United States to think that Sweden doesn’t have an army (worse, to think Switzerland IS Sweden until later corrected).

So you say yes? Then this is okay for you? Wow.

Certainly so. However, I try to live by the mantra “Whereof one does not know, thereof one ought not speak” (Wittgenstein). I’d be willing to take this a bit further – whereof one doesn’t know shit about the world, thereof one ought not be president.

I’d be more worried about how the president looks. Hey, at the very least, I think the president should have a working head on his shoulders.

Then perhaps you’re in the wrong forum.

JP while I do think it is possible to influence a persons decision, that is not what I think we attempt to do here. A) this is fun for most of us, I know it’s sick… B) this is great excercise for the brain, this much thinking should be done all the time not just every 4 years.

also while we may not ever change eachothers viewpoints, there may be plenty of readers who don’t post that takes the information and commentary we post and use it to formulate thier opinions. it’s all good brother.

Okay, who is it that tells people to lighten up all the time and then gets cranky when made fun of for typos?

Must be those darned hating conservatives always taking offense at even the slightest bit of sarcasm at their expense.

These are same people that are always ready to crudely make fun of someone and then tell them to lighten up – in the same post yet.

Must just be another example of the holier than thou “do as I say, not as I do” attitude…

Lighten up, vroom. Did somebody wake up late and cranky ?

Cranky? Wow you are one sensitive little man. Now do as I told you and lighten up

RSU:

Once again, you assume because of a verbal flub that someone has no (or low) intelligence. Quite an assumption to make. Also a wrong assumption!

You can’t just answer the direct question, can you?

Run away and hide behind your doctrine, bud…Bush does no wrong in your world.

RSU:

Already answered the question. Furthermore, Bush does quite a bit wrong in “my world.”

If you care to discuss what I think President Bush has done wrong that would be fine. Natrually, we will also discuss what you think John Kerry does that’s wrong as well. However, simple verbal errors I do not consider to be a big deal.

I know that liberals such as yourself love to play the “republican is stupid game.” As suggested earlier, they did this with Ronald Reagan as well. It’s a meaningless game of put downs.

You guys really need to learn to recognize sarcasm and dry humor… it’s kinda sad to see you missing the mark so badly.

I was being sarcastic myself.
