Iām going to reccomend a preservative for you. For the deck. Try and find Foxfire 5000. Itās a professional water based preservative, itās used on schools and lighthouses and probably other government stuff. You can apply it with a garden sprayer (Pump bottle like you would use for weedkiller), itās non-toxic, literally looks like you didnāt do anything once it dries, and beads water forever. Homeowners get a 5 year warranty, the same bottle has a 10 year warranty on commercial applications. Youāll have to go to a pro supply house like Oldcastle Adams to find it though. And itās not pricey.
