I’m sorry, but your midsection pisses me off. What voodoo have you employed to make it look like that?
Aside from good lighting and camera angle I try to hit abs hard once every 5 days. I also like to hit them at the end of other training sessions. A typical ab day would be alternating between oblique and “straight on” exercises. I try to keep between the 10-20 rep range and try and load up weight for crunches and trunk movements. I find stretching and holding between sets gives a good additional burn to the mix. When incorporating abs at the end of other training days I would pick either obliques or abs to target so I can alternate between days. Especially now this allows me to extend my training sessions without burning out the group I’m training too much since I don’t allow much time in between.

thanks for that. I’ve always kind of shied away from oblique training but clearly it’s worked for you!

What exercises do you use for your obliques? Do you do any “core” work or is it all just abs/obliques?
I usually do weighted pull downs with a rope where I start in a staggard stance with hips forward and a hand over hand grip and crunch down opposite elbow to knee. I really try and focus the load on my “upper obliques” if that makes any sense, almost like I am starting with my rib cage out then cinch it in. If you hit the right angle you can feel the burn pretty quick. I also do trunk rotations on a decline with a medicine ball where I hold at about a 45 degree angle, these are more a finisher for when I just hit abs straight on for a few sets of weighted crunches. Even though I prefer free hanging leg raises my power tower gets a lot of use for abs too.

Well, apparently I’m late to join the party in this thread but amazing job Builder. The hard work is evident. I agree with the others when saying you are going to be very competitive when you step on the stage. Look forward to hearing about your experience/results.
Thanks little sleeper, welcome aboard!

Decided to chuck in another refeed day today since I have been feeling depleted for a while now, legs in particular have just been weak making day to day stuff that much more of a struggle not to mention trying to do any kind of cardio or HIIT.

Weight was 171 this morning so things are still moving along. Tomorrow marks 2 weeks out so the game plan is to power through each muscle group one more time before entering Peak Week. Still tossing around a few options for pre contest but it will most likely come down to what my weight is at at the end of this week. Protocol will depend on whether or not I end up having to cut weight the last week but if all goes well I should be good to stick to something like the “Shredded in 6” plan.

Crazy triceps development. Not sure if the you have the forearms for a “victory” pose OP, but you definitely have the upper arm development. May be worth a go…

Here is my attempt, thoughts?

My little coach tells me I still have a ways to go with my posing.

The victory pose looks good, but that vacuum pose is insane. I think it’s your best one.

Once the show’s done, you need to give us some more details on your training history and diet.

Sounds good Fishdog and thanks!

Things seem to be coming together, big focus on posing up until the show. It’s crazy how fast things are moving now. Just got my new trunks n the mail today. Life is good!

Fuck, this thread is so cool.

Builder. Crisis.
Can’t even.

(but seriously please tell us about that vacuum pose when you have more time – crazy ‘Frank Zane’ thing going there)

Just under a week… Just gotta get some color and some carbs.

Good fantastic.

I just realized your show is right in the middle of the holiday season. What organization is crazy enough to schedule something like this? TOUGH time of year to prep for sure!

Less than ideal for sure, oh well only a few more days to tough out then battle the rebound on the other side.

Finally got some color!

You look great man. You are going to crush it. Good Luck!

Well fellas the dust has settled and somehow I pulled of the hattrick. Still hasn’t sunk in yet but I figured I would post the outcome for those following along.

Men’s Classic Physique A winner, Men’s Classic Physique Overall winner and Best Poser.

What? Not a single mention of the post comp meal?

This was thoroughly deserved, you put together a tremendous package. Hope you enjoyed the journey - you gotta put a Q&A thread for the masses!

You are absolutely right, just a modest amount of frozen yogurt (store bought) this year. Had plans for pizza and all that but it just didn’t pan out…see what I did there haha.

So Shawn Rhoden was the guest Poser for the show and one of my personal favorite guys to watch in the O lineup which was pretty exciting.

Will be a bit before pics come up since they were pretty strict at the venue, I actually didn’t even order any but now I may put in for some since I got lots of stage time.

awesome! Knew you’d do it!

You cleaned up, man. Saw that coming, though.
Very very well done.

Please do put up that Q&A sometime if you have some spare time.

Really awesome dude. Totally deserved.
You’ve really got a tremendous classic physique. Whilst I do admire what the Pro’s look like, pushing it to the limits with size, I much prefer your look, and thankfully that seems to be the direction bodybuilding is heading. Quality over quantity.

Nicely done. What’s the plan for off-season?
