Brownies for lifters

by Chris Shugart

Eat brownies to get lean and build muscle. No, really. These support all your fitness goals.

Fit people eat sweet potatoes, eggs, and walnuts. We even “supplement” with cacao for its nitric oxide boosting benefits. And we always have premium protein powder ➔ Buy at Biotest on hand.

These brownies are made with all that good stuff. Here’s Dani to show you how to make 'em (video recipe).

Ingredients

  • 2 baked sweet potatoes, skins removed after cooking (about 16 ounces)
  • 3 scoops chocolate MD Protein ➔ Buy at Biotest
  • 3 whole eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cacao powder
  • 1 cup baking Splenda
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil or MCT oil
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 cup crushed walnuts

Directions

  1. Bake sweet potatoes (1 hour at 400 degrees Fahrenheit) and peel them.
  2. Set oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Line a deep baking dish with parchment paper.
  4. Use a food processor or immersion blender on the sweet potato until smooth.
  5. Add the rest of the ingredients except the walnuts. Blend into a thick batter and pour into pan.
  6. Top with walnuts.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes. Leave them slightly undercooked for a gooey texture.

Here’s a variation of the recipe, sort of a “blondie” version but of course they’re orange with the sweet potato:

Starting with original recipe:

  1. Leave out the cocoa.
  2. Use vanilla MD Protein PLUS two extra scoops.
  3. Swap the walnuts for toasted almond slices.
  4. Add cinnamon.
  5. Don’t need the 2 tablespoons of milk.

Not bad. I miss the chocolate, but this version doubles up the protein.
