Thx kmc…yeah progressing slowly and steady. I’m Shooting for a 2010 return to the platform.
Bradlines, I’d need a little more info to answer your question appropriately. Firstly, would I be correct to assume that the nerve damage is due to either a prolapsed/bulging or herniated/ruptured cervical disc? Secondly, are there still fragments compressing the nerve root? And thirdly, how long has it been like this? Or is there an entirely different scenario causing the nerve damage? The more details you can give me, the better able I will be to best answer your question.
Been carb cycling for about 3 months now and finally dropped my bodyweight below 210…hit 209 this am. Looking to get to around 205 and stay there and shoot to compete at 198 next year and qualify for Nats again.

An addendum…all my upper body pressing movements are about 100# or slightly more down from last year pre-tear. Although this is a little discouraging, I know that RTC tears take about a year to regain full strength and I’m less than 6 months out now and this is only my 13th week of training since surgery…and I mean lifting anything including the weight of my own arm, so overall I’m fairly pleased with my progress so far.[/quote]
Doing really good for only six months out. Don’t push yourself into injury.
BTW, I like the “broken down but NOT broken” title you have.
Thx to both Elaikases. Yeah, that’s my biggest fear…always get a little nervous on ME upper days.

6/11/09 (RE Lower)
A. SB Box Squats (2" below parallel): 65x10,155x8,265x8,8,8 (Hamstring fried after ME lower…just gonna gradually work my way back to some semi-respectable weights)
B. GHR’s 10# 3x8 (Easy…hamstring feels good on these)
C. Calf Raises
D. Abs
6/14/09 (ME Upper)
A. Floor Press 135x5, 185x5, 225x3, 250x2, 275x1, 300x1, 315x1, 325x1 (Not bad at all…starting kind of conservative on weights as I cycle through my ME exs. due to not really knowing where I am right now since surgery) 415 for a single is my PR so that puts me about 90 lbs. down, which seems to be pretty consistent through my ME lifts I’ve tried so far
B. 3 Board Press 285x3,3 (No problem…will up these a conservative 10# next week so as not to rush things)
C. DB Floor Press left 105x5, 120x5 right 90x5, 105x4 (Finally got stuck on a weight I couldn’t get all 5)
D. DB Row left 120x8,8,8 right 110x8,8,8
Superset
E. DB Rear Delts 22.5x8,8,8 (Still easy…will go up)
F. Trap Bar Shrugs 265x8,8,8 (Shoulder not making awful crunching noise any more…increase nest week)
G. DB Curls 55x5,5,5 (No, wasn’t shooting for 5’s, but 8’s but I was spent)
H. Grip work
I. RTC rehab
Lookin’ good BB, nice floor presses!
Thx bunny…got a long way to go, but I’m chuggin’ along slow and steady.

Thx eco…Yeah I guess I’m happy all things considered, but when you’re a competitor you want those lbs. back yesterday. I’m sure you understand what I’m saying.

Absolutey…I understand. But its good to see your surgeon knew what he was doing.
definitely thankful for that…appreciate it
6/17/09 (RE Upper):
A. BP Barx ton, 135x10, 185x15, 185x15, 195x15 (Ok, my basic plan since surgery is to do partial range movements on all my ME days so that I can lift heavy, at least what’s heavy now, without having to go to the chest. Then on RE days dumbell flats or inclines, high rep, full range. Well, decided to throw in barbell bench in this rotation with tonight being my first night. I really am just sort of taking a shot in the dark as to where I am right now as I add exs. back in. All of these were light and felt good so I’ll be movin on up)
B1. Lat Pulls 200x8,8,8
Superset with
B2. Band Pull Aparts x20,20,20
C. DB Side Laterals Left 30x8,8,8 Right 9x8,8,8 (Yee ha, get to move up to the whopping 10 pounders next week)
D. DB Shrugs 120x8,8,8
E. DB Preacher Curls 45x8,8,8
F. Grip
G. Abs
Great the regular bench was pain free. You’ll be back hitting the PRs in no time.
Spoke too soon…lol. Posterior cuff a little achy today, but not bad. Thx eco…just feel like I’ve got such a long way to go, but keepin my chin up
