Breakfast Before or After

I leave at 9am every morning and I’ve started getting up at 6.30am to eat breakfast and get an hour and a half to digest it before I train at 8-ish, have my PWO meal then I’m off.

The thing is I eat a pretty substantial breakfast, we’re talking a big bowl of oats, some flaxseed oil, a scoop of whey, blueberries, banana, and an avocado.

I wonder would it be better if I just eat a small meal then train straight away, then have breakfast as my PWO meal? Or are there any better options. (I have to train in the morning I’ve got no time in the evenings)

If I train in the morning what I usually do is I’ll have 1/2 of my PWO shake about 30-45 minutes before going to the gym, workout, come home and finish my PWO shake and then 30 minutes after that, eat my breakfast.

Same here.

If you are lifting to gain mass, I especially see no problem eating a solid breakfast an hour and half to two hours before lifting. This ensures full glycogen and nutrient stores and enough time for digestion so that you feel good for your workout. Then your Surge afterwards and I feel your are golden. This works for me.

However, sometimes, I will have a four scoop Metabolic Drive Complete upon waking and then an apple sometime before my workout two hours later.

D

With the fat in there, an hour and a half may not be enough digestion time.

I’d increase the amount of whey, kill the flax, reduce the quantity of avocado, and possibly reduce the amount of oats.

The more simple the pre-training meal the better.

Why not both?

i do my heaviest lifting in the morning and usually just have some whey and a little stimulant before. sometimes a scoop of Surge.

btw your breakfast doesn’t seem all that “substantial” to me.

I have a protein bar with 2 cups of orange juice and 2 scoops whey 30 min before i work out in the morning. I cant stand working out without a little something in my stomach.
