I just wanted to say thanks to all the informed people here on T-Nation who helped me spot a brain tumor. After consistently declining testosterone levels, i was constantly shrugged off by my general doctors by “being in range”.
But after posting a thread and getting advice from a couple T-Nation member, I was advised to tell my doctor to look at my LH and FSH levels to see if my pituitary was acting normal. Turns out it wasn’t, as the numbers were extremely low. Once that showed up on a blood test they called for an MRI, which revealed a Brain Tumor that never would of been spotted if I hadn’t been advised to tell me doctor to check my pituitary.
Whether it’s benign malignant or whatever it is is still undetermined, but I wouldn’t have spotted it now if it weren’t for the T-Nation members.
Gotta say that just gave me chills…no better community than the folks on this site IMO. Lots of knowledge getting tossed around here. Good luck. And good for you for challenging the docs with info you found “on-line”
I pray that you achieve a good resolution with this brain tumor issue, whether it is through surgery, radiation, or other treatments. I applaud your diligence to look past the doctor’s quit retorts and failure to look deeper. I am finding that doctor’s knowledge in these areas are limited and restricted by only things they read in medical journals.
I wish you the best and hope you get through this OK.
I’m reading a book called “Outsmart Your Cancer”. It’s about all sorts of natural treatments and their history. You should check it out OP, and most of all, good luck.
Brain tumor or pituitary adinoma? Prolactin involved?
Well, its tough news. You have to be brave and resolute and do battle as best that you can. I am glad that this was discovered and not left for other pathologies to surface.
I would be looking at all hormone systems under pituitary control. They may need to be addressed to support your health and should be monitored during treatment and on-going.
IGF-1 for GH
TSH, fT3, fT4 and body temperatures, body temps are the bottom line
Adrenal panel
Kidney function and electrolytes
49percent, I’ll try to post them sometime over the next few days. KSMAN, thanks for the info, those are all very good points, as my kidney function (creatinine and BUN) have been extremely off, when I pointed this out I was hit with a “well you have a high protein diet”. But I believe it’s a brain tumor, they said it was the lower posterior end of the brain, but will look into it more with the nuerosurgeon appointment. Also a ENDO appoitment will need to be set to monitor the GH, TSH, and Adrenals. Thanks again though.
Thanks for the support everyone. It is not on the pituitary, but on the lower posterior end. Said to be a clear mass, which can be good if its chosen to be removed surgically. Will review more options with neurosurgeon in next couple of days.
@Ksman, could be a possibility, however, the blood test still reveal my testosterone to be at 100ng/dl , in which case the tumor could have been spotted completely incidental, however, I’m still thankful it was spotted. The doctor today said I still need to take action with my pituitary, the tumor and pituitary may not be correlated, but he definitely expressed the pituitary issues need to be addressed immediately.
Thank you scotty for your bloodtest beacuse my FSH is simillar or lower, and I have headaches. In other words my results are similar. I will have MRI in April. If you want write frequently what is going on. God luck.
don’t be afraid to replace all those hormones…gh too if igf 1 is below 150 (get a gh stim test if so). I have panhypopituiarism. make sure u dont have diabetes indipidus as that will make you feel horrible (high urine volume is an easy diagnosis). tumors can resolve. check minerals with hair mineral analysis test(things like vanadium molybdenum everything) spectracell nutrient analysis of the WBC. Don’t mess around - learn from my mistakes… get these tests done privately through yourself…order online.
Something else is probably an issue as far as a nutrient or mineral defiicency as well. I doubt ur immune system will work if hormones are low…check thyroid aldosterone dhea everything and replace everything asap i dont care what the doc says as far as waiting on replacing those…unless surgery is for sure then i guess waiting till after that is an option.
