I arrived yesterday with my girlfriend to catch the bruins/flyers today. So far we’ve been to quincy market, the north and south shops, had dinner at a place called Bricco last night on Hanover street which was stellar…
Took the subway all around the city yesterday exploring a little…wanted to visit the harvard and/or boston college campus today…
Was given a tip to try dinner at a place called Olive’s over hte bridge in charlestown tonight…
Anyone got any insider tips? People love Canadians here, it seems.
if you want to do some high end shopping check out Newbury St
you can go ice skating w/ your ladyfriend at Frog Pond
Olive’s is the shit dude mad expensive tho hope you like $40^ entrees. i ate there in Las Vegas not in South End tho.
theres a ton of bars in Fanuel Hall that cater to more of the yuppy crowd then theres a bunch of nightlife in the theatre district
and Allston but its LA (lower alston) not Boston…idk saw that on a shirt once
Olive’s is great but expensive $24 for a martini, crazy, but chef Todd English is one of the best in the world. You’ll do fine people here aren’t assholes to tourist.
My insider tip get drunk before you go out clubs close at 1:30-2:00
Yeah, Bricco wasn’t what you’d call recession-worthy either haha…125 dollar bottle of wine+lobster spaghetti for her +shitload of seafood for me and 300 bucks later we’re sayin’ goodnight…

id suggest staying out of East Boston as well, unless you want your girlfriend to get raped by 30 ms-13s
but for the most part, its way too fucking cold out at night right now to be too worried, but then again anyone whos outside is probaly on drugs or drunk or out of their mind.
as far as shit to experience here, theres a lot of Brazilian steakhouses around. wicked good beef, all you can eat and relatively cheap, like 13 bucks or something or some places just weigh your plate and u pay that way.
youll find most the brazilian shit in everett.
theres also a ton of different live music and variet at The Middle-East in downtown Cambridge, theres a resturaunt too so you can eat, hang out and see some live shit go down if thats what youre into.
google middle east cambridge and you can see whats going on. if music is your deal you can also go to wers.org and they tend to have a ton of live events posted from reggae to accapella.
stay off the Green Line, its not dangerous, its just a really fucking awful transit system.
Chinatown is ok but it can be kind of dangerous too. the Boston chinatown is basically a mini 3rd world country.
Harvard and BC? Nah, visit Northeastern’s campus! Home of Punter’s Pub, where the beer flows to the tune of $7 a pitcher, and there’s a hole in the wall that allows you to order directly to the bar from the pizza place next door.

Allston is Boston…Ass. And yes I saw those shirts too. OP: If you end up in Allston, check out Big City later on in the evening, it’s a great place. Also check out The Joshua Tree, also in Allston (NOT THE ONE IN SOMERVILLE), if you like sportsbars that still have a dining atmosphere.

Middle East recommendation seconded. I went there for a birthday a couple years ago. Before blacking out I remember everyone being really nice.
And the green line is fine. It’s never more than 5 minutes late. I don’t know why everyone bitches about it.

X2
EDIT: I have no bar recommendations. I went in town once when I was 19 and had to be carried out because I was so trashed. I heard the Middle East is good for music too.
You could check out a lot of the historical stuff like Paul Revere’s house, the Freedom Trail, and the Boston Commons.
I’d also recommend Ye Old Oyster House and the Bell and Tavern which is the oldest restaurant and longest running tavern in America, respectively. They’re also right next to each other and close to the Holocaust memorial, which is a quick visit but worth it, in my opinion.
theres a decent sports bar i went to adjacent to Newbury st, i think it was Boylston cant remember the name but its next to a place called “The Pour House”
downside is they have a small tap but its a cool atmosphere and a mid-late 20s crowd.
theres a big bar scene in fanuel hall/north end tho.
We only hate Canadians who are from Montreal or are fans of the Canadians. I Fucking hate Canadian fans at Bruins games. But have fun, North End is fun, Quincy market, Harvard Sq, Newbury St, some others i cant think of.
