I finished The Fountainhead and now am starting “Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance”.
I am reading the LEFT BEHIND series by Jerry Jenkins & Tim LaHaye
I am reading Bill O’Riley’s No Spin Zone, Dr. Scott Connelly’s Body Rx, and I just got the new Dennis Miller book and former President Bush’s new book. By the way I always have a big breasted japanese porn on hand to watch. HEH HEH
Here’s some great historical fiction that I’ve read in the last year or so – First, try Stephen Pressfield’s “Gates of Fire” or “Tides of War”. The first covers the battle of Thermopylae and is one of the best books I have ever read. Several hundred hardass Spartans hold off about 200000 Persians. Very real, very inspiring, very emotional. The second is about the campagins of Alcybiades during the Peloponesian war. Also great. Recently I’ve been tackling Historical fiction books by Bernard Cornwell, who wrote several Civil War books. His latest, “The Archer’s Tale”, talks about the Hundred Years War. This guy is a T-Man at heart: love and wishiwashiness is only included to provide impetus for more conflict. There is serious ass-kicking in these books. If you want to read some pretty enjoyable Robert Louis Stevenson-esque adventure HF, try Wilbur Smith, who has written stories set in just about every period you can think of.
Just broke down recently and bout a few Ayn Rand books. Just started reading the Fountainhead and am pretty impressed. It sounds a lot like the reading list reccommended by ol’ TC here on this thread. I guess he is influencing our brains as well as our muscles.
Candide by Voltaire
“Black Hawk Down” and “Rudy Giuliani - Emperor of the City.” Also recently finished “Delta Force,” by Col. Charlie Beckwith.
Should finish Choke tonight, also got Black Hawk Down and The Other Guy Blinked which is about how Pepsi beat Coke the New Coke saga etc.
The whole “A Song of Ice and Fire” series is awesome. “A Fire Upon the Deep”
Was “Choke” any good? I read “Survivor” and really liked that one, was wondering if thats of the same quality. I’m sure it is though.
IMHO Survivor was slightly better (just) I read Invisble Monsters at Christmas and was disappointed but Choke was waaaayyyyy better.
Choke was excellent. Currently reading The Catcher in the Rye and Atlas Shrugged. Yup you folks have definitely influenced my tastes.
MAstering Windows 2000 Server…Just finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire. Cannot wait for book 5!! Yes, I am man enough to admit I like Harry Potter, alot too!
Just finished “Managing the Training of Weightlifters, N. P. Laputin” Now starting “The Training of the Weightlifter R. A. Roman.”
Ok, I have to ask:
What makes everyone want to read Ayn Rand? If Mentzer had not been a follower and (correct me if I’m wrong) introduced her name into the muscle community, would you have read her work regardless? And for those who have read The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged…what did you take away from reading this book?
For the record, I haven’t read her work yet but Atlas Shrugged is 3rd on my list of books I’m ploughing through right now. Looking forward to it.
Who cares?
Just askin’, man. What’s your take on The Fountainhead so far?
I finished it, and I thought it was a great book. I look forward to reading it again.
