Books Men Should Read

Real Good @polo77j - sure miss our family tho~ I just re-read some of our old threads - we had a good thing going for a while -

I’ve been training, but have been doing the anabolic diet, and am down to 215, looking for 210 or 205 by Thanksgiving. Working still, no grandkids.

you?

@Edgy Yea man … those were some good ole days … looks like some young kids in here are picking it back up a bit - not as crazy as it used to be but w/e

Training intermittently but getting more serious about it again - I’ve never had much issue with maintaining weight or dropping if need be (yet lol) - trying to stay “pliable” for the kid that’s on the way

Wife’s due in June - going in for the first ultrasound tomorrow - fingers crossed everything is good with her. Just started a new job @ a large pharmacy in a pretty legit position - lots of high profile projects and my name is known with some senior VPs and such … A lot of upside and a lot less time spent actually working and @ work … can be challenging though. Hoping to be acclimated and comfortable by the time the little one arrives so the lack of sleep I’m anticipating doesn’t affect me too negatively…

Glad to see you around here - I know you poke in and out but it’s good to see you

CONGRATS! glad to hear all is good, and you are reproducing! the world needs more people like you in it~

good luck on the carreer and family stuff - it’s tough, but well worth it~

Thanks Bud … I"m expecting it to just about break me lol but I won’t let it

Don’t read Atlas Shrugged. It’s fair to middlin’ as a work of fiction and Rand’s philosophy can be found better stated in many of her other books.

Do read The Virtue of Selfishness and Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal.

If you like The Fountainhead, read The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone. Both books deal with artistic integrity.

Cormac McCarthy’s The Road
Junot Diaz The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao

Black Swan

Just to understand the concept of a Black Swan event.

The Heart and the Fist: The Education of a Humanitarian, the Making of a Navy SEAL

If Eric Greitens really did write himself honestly and accurately, then I think he’s a great role-model for any boy, certainly better than Superman or Batman.

If I wanted to be super-honest- Everyone should also read Thucydides’s History of the Peloponnesian War. Hell, I’d make that required reading for any high school graduate.

It’s a goddamn shame that I had to take a graduate level course in History to even be familiar with that name.

Ego is the enemy and the obstacle is the way are both worth reading.

A book on the specifics of creating and organising goals like Think and Grow Rich, Tony Robbins books etc

Rich Dad, Poor Dad (Kiyosaki)
Rich Dad’s Cash Flow Quadrant (Kiyosaki)
Unlimited Power 2 (Anthony Robbins, cd)

Those have helped me by leaps and bounds. From a shy kid growing up on a dirt road to a pretty successful 35 year old making it happen in the big city. I still listen to the cd and read the books from time to time to get back on track.

perspective. Good post.

The Way of Men is a great book. It talks about masculinity and the modern man.
