My bet is that they’ve never even read the book!
Why read when you can watch the film?

Me, I did both.

Same here.
I usually don’t find this to be true, but I thought the film was better than the book in this case. Fincher did a remarkable job turning into reality.
There was a seen in the book which I thought was rather hokey… it’s where Tyler was on the beach sitting in a hand-shaped shadow cast by a particular configuration of a sculpture he created. I was glad that never made it to film.

Agreed, ID!
I think the author even mentioned something about how he felt the screen play emphasized certain things and cut out other things that, on the whole, made it better than his original. I give him credit for being able to admit something like that, since he didn’t do the screenplay.
Fincher is a very good director. He also directed Seven and The Game, both very good movies, IMO. The Social Network I thought was just OK, but then the subject matter is very different from anything that’s the sort of suspense or action that I like best. As for his newest, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I haven’t seen it yet.
Ooh! I had no idea Finch directed “…Dragon Tattoo”!
Now I can’t wait to see it.
Oh, and I’ve read a few of Palahniuk’s other books and found them very entertaining, although his writing style becomes predictable and tiresome after a while, IMHO.

Did you read Guts - the short story I posted? Interactive reading is not the work of a hack writer…

Guts? I actually have a soundfile of Palahniuk’s reading of it!
