I hope you’re not being sarcastic

Fruit and vegetable intake and the risk of colorectal cancer: Results from the Shanghai Men's Health Study - PMC.

Oof… says right there “possibly” associated and “inconsistent results”… Now in your own words explain how they allegedly protect against it. Pseudo-science BS

My brother, that’s the background of the abstract. Results of that study show a reduction in cancer incidence among non-smokers.

I am not a physiologist or dietician, so I can’t certainly tell you the mechanism that fruit and vegetables decrease bowel cancer. I suspect it is to do, at least in part, with gut microbiota and covariant lifestyle factors.

I’ve been thinking about doing a shake like this for my breakfast. Problem being I’d have to blend it the night before so I don’t wake the whole house with my ninja at 5am. So my question is, have you ever prepped it the night before? And if so what was it like to drink the day after?

Respectfully… I’ve seen no credible evidence other than very flimsy anecdotal type. If it’s corollary (not causation) to other lifestyle factors… That’s like epidemiology blaming red meat for cancer.

The fruit / vegetable studies typically tell you to cut meats and add them. I’m always suspicious of their end game.

Done it a million times. Consistency isa bit different but otherwise it’s fine. If you add oats (you shouldn’t) they will absorb a lot of the fluid and become almost a pudding

Why would you recommend not to add oats?

This. My intention of drinking it on the drive to work didn’t really materialise! It does help to blend the oats to a fine powder, first. Not going down the should I/shouldn’t I add oats road…

Meta-analysis is the highest tier of evidence in medical research

And if it isn’t?

Yeah man, big fruit and vegetable are out there trying to control the world

Besides, what is potential benefit of cutting out fruit and veg? I can’t understand the logic -

  • Eat vegetables because they’re cheap, taste good, and are good for you (to the extent where they’ll probably help you live longer)
  • Don’t eat vegetables because….. you find them yucky?

Are you so gullible as to believe the FDA, pharma, etc… are not willfully dishonest, publish misleading BS, etc…?? Oof

Remember when saturated fat was evil, cholesterol the root of all evil, sugar is good for you…? Easily duped people are easily duped I suppose.

Ok buddy

My sentiments too. I suppose the irony is also lost on you. Oh well.

I like vegetables and fruits just not under the impression they’re of value.

It all depends on the time and context. One thing I like about science is that it’s being questioned, which is all part of the game.

I wish opinions underwent the same scrutiny.
