THANK YOU HEAVY TRIPLE!!! I took your advice and picked up some 10 dollar knee sleeves today to try them out and felt absolutely ZERO knee pain. It was awesome! I only used them for squats but they felt nice. It was pretty awkward feeling TBH but they kept everything tight in my knee and it was good. Just some little slip on thin ones.

405x1 (havent back squatted in a while but these felt good. 405 felt surprisingly light but i felt a little tweak in my neck so I didnt push it for more. I was very happy with 405 since i’ve only been front squatting lately)

Lying Leg Curl:

and done. Felt great, got some good work in and wasnt there very long. I’m thinking I should probably run 5/3/1 to prep for the meet. That would be 2 good cycles. (i might even skip the first cycles deload week to get a little more work in)
do you guys think that those squats looked high? I know its kind of hard to tell because the angle of the camera combined with the black shorts/black knee sleeves/black safety bars on the rack… When I paused the vid in the bottom position it looks parallel to me but I’m no PL expert.
Let me know what you guys think.
Drop it an inch or two more to be sure. SPF rules are that the hip crease must dip below the knee, so you are right at it, just go a bit further.

The “Tribute” workout for the brave men who died this past weekend. 3.1 mile run (aka a 5K), then 31 exercises (too many to list here, so your choice) & 31 reps each. Enjoy!
What DF said about depth, true. You’re going to want to BURY your first squat, to make the judges like you more. Yes, I’m serious, haha. Also, SPF uses monolifts, so make sure if you want to walk out your squats (I recommend it) you let the head judge know as you get on the platform. AND…no “squat” command, from what I read, so you unrack it and get set, then go when you’re ready. Once you LWI that shit up, HOLD IT UNTIL YOU HEAR “RACK”. Same with bench, press and hold until you hear “RACK”. Watch how many people fuck that up.
Also, check that belt broseph. If it tapers up in the back to over 4" wide, it’s illegal, so get/borrow a different one.
Other than that, squats look good and congrats at making me feel even weaker than I already do.

Ink- thanks for the heads up man. I was reading about the no squat command or UP call in their rule book. I’m gonna have to brush up on those. I’ll make sure and go ATG on my first squat attempt. I’ll probably open with something that’s easy to handle just to make sure (365 maybe?)
That belt is the gyms community belt. I’m pretty sure it’s a 4inch belt , although I didn’t measure it. I’ll look around for a cheap decent 4incher (that’s what she said) lolz well since youregoing to be competing at themeet and all you can help coach me up

HeavyTriple- yeah they helped a ton man. Knees felt really warm and everything was tight/feeling awesome. Good lookin out. I was already foreseeing grotesque odor residing in those sleeves lol. I took em off and flipped them inside out to dry. I’ll probably wash them every other week or so just to be sure.

Gonna hit up shoulders today instead of back. My hammies are tight/sore like crazy this morning and id rather give them an extra day before DLing.

I’d say by the meet, 365 will be a good opener. It’s something you could triple on a bad day, and being your first meet, you’ll want it to be easy. If I could make it the SoCal then, I would man, Don’t count me out 100% yet, but I’d say it’s a 95% chance that I won’t be able to make it. It’s alright, you’ll get plenty of e-coaching here. with my squats yesterday I did use a little bit wider stance than I have been lately so it probably did recruit a little more of da hammies and booty… feeling it today.

If you are using a monolift you have the option of walking it out but it feels so much better if you don’t. It was my first time using one and after a couple of times warming up it was heaven it makes squatting so much easier. So at least try it.

You don’t need a large arch, as long as you keep everything tight. Practice practice practice, that’s the key. Set up the same way every time, and you’ll be good to go.
