Boderline Personality Disorder

I have been researching this online since the break up with my girlfriend ( no I am not blaming her for the symptoms becaus ethey were apparent even while we were together). I seem to have 98% of the symptoms associated with this disorder. However I am not sure where to turn for treatment. Has anyone else here had deal with this? Did you seek psychological or psychiatric help?

Uh, most teens/young adults have symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder. I encourage you to read “Girl, Interrupted” (yes, the book, not the movie). If you’ve just read up on this and think “oh shit, I have BPD,” then forget about it. If you are really having problems in your life that you need to work through, find a qualified psychologist.

Also check for its close cousin, NPD, Narcissistic Personality Disorder (on Sam Vankin`s website).

imo, this and other personality disorders are over-diagnosed. i had a friend diagnosed with this shit like 4 years ago after a break-up with his gf. of course according to his psych he exhibited all of the symptoms, therefore he had the disorder; but how else was he supposed to act when he found out his girlfriend had cheated on him a couple of times like 4 months before they were to get married? he is just fine now, like nothing ever happened. if you are a young adult you will probably grow out of it.

there is a disease called ‘temporarily stressed out.’ this disease gets severely under-diagnosed, imo.

Dude, I have worked in psych, and believe me, if you were truly borderline, you would not be looking or asking for help in the first place. Best advice is to find some balance in your life through interests, hobbies, friends, family, diet, and weights. If you need therapy get it, just make sure to stay the hell away from psych meds. Peace

Careful…psych professors always warn their students that researching the vast array of conditions out there can be harmful to the student because as we learn … we begin to see correlations in ourselves. Truth be told…you probably exhibit symptoms from many disorders. This is not to say that you have any of these things. Do yourself a favour and get an official diagnosis before you further freak yourself out. It could very well be nothing serious at all. You won’t know until you get yourself checked out.

You got it…you’re fucked
