Came off TRT for 1 year because of insane symptoms. Not sure if TRT related or due to other issues. Regained 40 pounds of fat. Sleep poorly now, keep waking up at 3 or 4 am wide awake sweating.
Here is my bloodwork. T has been low for 6 tests over 12 months. CBC and Metabolic Panel all green. T is still low, lipids are bad, I’m overweight.
Main question was about my Iron - is anything causing this? I eat plenty of Iron.
Sorry to hear about this sir. I don’t have a background to address your main question, but have you had a sleep study? It may sus out some non hormonal related issues. Have you had any recent comprehensive thyroid blood work? Your TSH isn’t great and if you have familial history issues I would keep adding those to your lab work.
I always thought I had hypothyroidism because my mother, grandmother, and great grandmother have it.
However, my endo says I’ve never had it because my TSH was never above range, and I guess my other thyroid panels never showed anything crazy.
He diagnosed me with idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, low LH from unknown pituitary/hypothalamus issue. But I also have low SHBG so I think that’s my issue…I get negative estrogen feedback super early on my pituitary because my free is normal, but it keeps my total low.
New research and up to speed endos know that the range really should be 1-2 or 1-2.5 depending on who you ask. Frankly, your TSH is something that I think should be addressed, but if in depth labs say otherwise then what do I know.
I really do not look for anything in particular, going more off of symptoms. Sure, it is always nice when a higher TSH coorelates with a lower free T4 and lower fT4 with lower free T3.
I cannot begin to relate how many people have suffered (for years) from “subclinical” hypothyridoism with mid range normal levels that think it is a miracle when they take thyroid, and come back with high levels, zero side effects, and feel great.
What were your “insane symptoms” on TRT to make you come off? What was you TRT protocol and levels? I have never heard of insane symptoms for people following a moderate TRT protocol.
My blood pressure was up to 226/119. I had severe headaches and neck pain. Gasping for air while sleeping. Hypnic jerks falling asleep. Restless leg. Puffy under eyelids. Inflamed liver, slightly elevated enzymes. At one point calprotectin was 1,400 and I was shitting blood.
Those were a few symptoms.
Not sure what caused it all. A psychopath may have been poisoning me to take my business. He was caught and fired eventually. I bring it up because he was giving me coffees everyday and I became sicker.
I was on 140mg a week, then 120mg a week then 100mg a week, then 2 pumps of androgel.
