Blacklabel's Juggernaut Log

As long as your training max stays 5-10% below your calculated max like it says in the book you’ll be good, good luck!
Roger that, if I learned anything from 5/3/1 it was that, thanks!

Still not 100% better from having food poisoning earlier this week. I lost about 10 lbs in 2 days and I think im finally starting to put the weight back on. I’ve also decided I will be moving my lifting days to Tuesday/Thursday/Friday since that is when my work schedule is less hectic.

Got my numbers all set thanks to Trav… can’t wait to start.

Sweet! Do you plan on starting it anytime soon?
Probably not for a while, my current set up is working well for me at the moment so I am going to do my best to not change it until I have to.

3-22-11

Day 1 - Juggernaut method

Bench:
165x5x10

DB bench:
40x10
80x10
60x8
55x8

DB row:
40x10
85x10
65x2x10

DB OH ext:
30x10
40x10
50x10
30x10

Bicep stuff to finish it off.

I came back feeling very weak today, and I didn’t think to change up the numbers for my projected max so I kind of messed up the first day. I wasnt suppose to go to failure on my last set of bench, nor was I suppose to get ONLY 10 reps. This is all because of me being sick/losing a whole bunch of weight… but it still angers me some. I will have to drop my max next week to fix this problem.

Besides that this workout went very well, kept all assistance somewhat light and didnt go to failure. Great success.

Good luck with the program. I’ll be following here.

Lowering the training max is a good idea as it will be adjusted rapidly anyways. Otherwise looks good man! You’re sticking more to the laid out assistance than me which is honestly probably a better plan, depending how this cycle goes I might do that also for the next one.

What’s the issue with your squatting if you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks man… im really hoping this program works out.

Yea I dont know what I was thinking, I am obviously weaker than I was before being sick yet I didn’t think I would be.

And im pretty much following my buddy’s routine and I like it alot, im not killing myself on the assistance but im getting shit done.

The issue with my squatting is that my hips are retarded. They are very very unflexible, and it causes them to bow out when I squat. When I tried correcting the issue (sitting way back) it helped some, and it started to look like an actual squat. But for some reason this put alot of new stress on my hip flexor… and mid way through a sheiko cycle they gave out. My left leg for only a few days, but my right one is still a little fucked… and this was during the summer of 2010.

Good luck with the program!

I just finished up the 10s wave, starting 8s today. It’ll be interesting to see how someone else is doing on TJM

It sucks! But I like it so far. Seriously, it seems like its helping me along though. I like pushing big weights (big for me, anyway) so dialing it back on the weight and doing all this volume is humbling. And PAINFUL (in good way)
All in all it seems like a good program to switch things up after doing a lot of low rep, high intensity stuff week in/week out like I was.

I hear ya… it’s a good change of pace. Im sore as hell from yesterday… only did 5 sets of bench and some DB work. Usually it takes alot more that.

Im going to be starting the Juggernaut program soon as well, and ill definetely be following your log, good luck man. And also, trav, if you could shoot me a pm with that excel spreadsheet Id greatly appreciate it, if you wouldnt mind

Thanks dude, I always appreciate the support.

Good luck with the program… it kicks ass so far.

3-24-2064

Deadlift:
135
185
225
270x4x10- first 2 sets beltless
270x12

Good mornings:
95x5
115x5
135x5
145x5

Pretty damn good workout. Kind of tweaked my hamstring during the 3rd set, but it wasn’t enough to stop me from finishing. It just feels a little tight right now, nothing a little stretching/icing wont take care of.

Military press tomorrow.

3-25-11

Military press:
45
65
95x4x10
95x12

Side raises:
10x10
25x12
15x2x15

Assisted chins: 5x5

Front raises:
15x10
25x10
15x2x15

Rear delt raises:
10x10
20x10
25x10
15x2x15

Should have probably dropped my max on this… I wanted to get 15 or so reps, and only was able to get 12 without going to failure. But overall not a bad workout.

Bench day tuesday.

That sucks about your hips, hopefully you can find a solution and begin to squat again!

I’m finding the OHP to be the hardest lift in this actually, but its probably bc I never trained it before TJM. Although the DLing def’ sucks the wind out of you! Are you doing touch and go?

Nice work so far!

Thanks man… yea OHP rapes me, i’ve always done it but never with this much volume. And I am not doing the deadlift touch n’ go… I’ve never done it that way, always deadstop.

I might incorporate box squats, since that doesnt fuck with my hips as much. I feel like a major bitch not squatting… no matter what its always going to be my weakest lift.

If those are deadstop then your DL is pretty damn good! Can you front squat?

Thank ya! Not sure, havent really tried… I might try it as assistance on a deadlift day. If I could that would be great.
