Black + White

Thanks, chewie. They definately felt inadequate. They were going home alone. But why the comment? If he said “Black fuckers getting all the ladies,” well, I wouldn’t consider that racist. But no, the guy said flat out that he has a problem with black dudes with white chicks. Racist.

I already called him a racist. The other guy I was with was just pissed he wasn’t going to get any pussy that night.

See usually when a person gets drunk, inhibitions get loose, and sometimes the real person shows.

I’m not worried. It was only the second time I ever saw this guy. I may see him via mutual friend once more this year. There’s a good chance I’ll verbally grind him down. But I will look at him sideways forevermore.

On a personal note, if I had a choice I’d be black because I like their style.

You just proved your own point with this racist generalization about black people having one style. What is this style and what prevents other races from having this same style? Are you saying that black people can’t be nerds, or fit other typically “white” stereotypes?

I love basketball. I love football. I love sprinting. Turn on the T.V. and watch these sports and you will understand me better.

Chewie makes some really good points.

You ever considet that people from BOTH sides of the political spectrum practice such behaviour?

When I was younger I had a friend make a similar comment. He claimed it was the white girl being racist because she wouldn’t date anyone who isn’t black. He was upset because these girls wouldn’t give anyone that’s not black a chance to date. I had to remind him that dating is based on personal preferences and individual attraction and if that is what the girl is attracted to, how can you be mad at her and call her a racist?

my grandmother switched which arm she had her purse on before a black man walked by in a semi-urban setting, does that make her racist? (I don’t know… but food for thought)

Why would it not be racist? Because she’s your grandmother? Or because she wasn’t calling for the lynching of black folk while she did it? The only way it’s not racism is if she had some other reason for doing it, like her arm was tired or something.[/quote]

It would only be racist if the reason (or one of the reasons) she did it was based only on the other people’s race.

Other wise it’s just predjudice, unless she knew enough about the individual people to make an informed decision, then it would just be judging based on past experiences.

When have the Republicans ever attempted to drive a wedge between the races?Democrats are infamous for their demagoguery and victim mentallity when it comes to minorities. Hell, I grew up in a predominately black neighborhood and we would get letters in the mail from the local democratic chapter pitting blacks against the “white Republicans.” When a black girl gets into Yale law school with a 150 LSAT and 3.1 GPA and I get put on the waiting list at UGA with a 160 and a 3.89…you call that equal opportunity?

Not to turn this into an affirmative action thread, but that would be insulting to me to think that the government and academic institutions held me to such low standards. I actually have the option of putting native american as my race and getting into almost any ivy league law school in the country, but I choose not to because I know that some kid somewhere would get denied a seat.

Do you think that when Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson begin spewing their hateful racist bull crap that they’re drunk?

No probably not…

The difference is their racism is somewhat productive. They try and help, to a certain degree, to bring awareness to racism and to their race in general. It’s not all just bull crap. Some of it is, but really how could anyone speak on a certain subject as much as they do and not have at least a portion of it be crap? You can’t just always repeat yourself.

I disagree. They try to drive a wedge between the races in order to raise money and live like kings.

I don’t necessarily agree with that affirmative action thing either, but why wouldn’t you indicate your race on the application? Affirmative action is specifically for situations like this where someone has a damn-near perfect GPA and a good LSAT score…you can compete with the others there, there’s no debating that.

You need to jump on that education dude. That’s like me turning down an invite to bang some chick in the Playboy mansion because some white guy out there might lay the pipe better than I can. Not a very good analogy but you get the point

It just didn’t feel right man…I am 1/8 Creek, you only have to be 1/32 to qualify I believe, but still…it’s not like I’m half native american.

I would openly date ANY race, except probably indian (because I’ve found like 1 EVER attractive, so it’s not preference it’s just speculation). However I would not marry outside my race. And well by that I mean like black or asian or indian. I’ve just had this thing about wanting to marry an irish girl in particular, but I would probably go for italian/hispanic. The thought behind this is that MOST italians, hispanics, and whiteys tend to have similar religous and family values etc, as opposed to asians and blacks in regards to myself. in fact I take bcak the “would not” because I don’t know for sure I don’t really care, just don’t see it happening, however i’m sure I won’t choose who I love. And thats what really matters…right?

Yeah, well you need read on what a lot of the “muslim” groups in England are doing, then you’ll get the other side of the story.

Didn’t Jesse Jackson refer to New York as “hymietown”?

So, you’re saying that blacks play basketball, football and run sprints. I happen to know some who don’t like to do any of those things.

I’m not really looking to understand you, although I like watching those events too. My point was that not all blacks fit your profile and by saying that you like the style of blacks, you are unfairly (imo) pigeon-holing them into a stereotype. When I look at the world of black professional athletes, I see a group that is as diverse as any other sector of society. For example, Donovan McNabb has a personal style that is very different from Terrel Owens who is very different from a Gilbert Arenas, etc. Can you see my point now?

I agree with what you said about everyone being racist to a degree. This is very different from being a bigot, however. I just wanted you to be aware that I thought your assessment of a “black style” was very unfair to the intellectual, professional black people (doctors, lawyers, businesspeople and politicians) who may dress and act like what is typically considered a “white” style.

Just something to consider.
