Of course! you should see some of the freaks that show up to Black Metal festivals, lol. I mean, I love Black Metal don’t get me wrong, I wear black band t shirts just like every other fan, but I don’t spend $1,000 at a Harley Davidson shop, spend an hour painting my face and coming up with a rip off name like “Aggamortis the Infernal!!” like some of those freaks in the crowd do, lol.
I think only a few Black Metal bands have ever been able to make their stage show and production look good. Immortal has epic, amazing music, but man they needed some serious help with their production, XD.
I’m gonna start a Death Metal thread now, since this one has gotten a great positive response.

The crappy production on true BM is a trademark of the genre, I wouldn’t trade that for the world.
Plus, large part of it is Budget. But on the other hand, it definatly adds a new dimension to some bands. When I hear some low production CD’s it just adds so much more to it. When you are trying to create a helpless atmosphere to your music you dont want everything to be crystal clear, I would rather you not know whats going on. Again it works for some band sand not for others.
Its kind of like a director. If you are filming something and you want it to be terrifying. seeing it clearly might not have the same effect as seeing it distorted. Sometimes its all from the artists point of view…and if it bothers you…it wasn’t made for you to hear.
