Biotest Creatine Malate

How do you know if you are a “non-responder” to the classic stuff to begin with?

My understanding is if you are a responder to creatine you’ll gain 2-3 pounds of water weight within the first few days use.

Whoa! Might be pissing away my sups. +6 pounds in 3 months 10g CH on training days.

Youre not pissing away anything. In my opinion, a non-responder sees no performance increase after using creatine. There is nothing wrong with some water retention as its beneficial to have more water within the muscle to increase the pressure within the muscle.

Creatine is so cheap there’s no harm in taking it even if you’re not sure you’re a responder.

there is evidence coming out now that there might be some neurological effects too (depression for one)

Got anything to point me towards for reading on this?

Most of my bookmarks are at work w/ links to articles/studies.

Maybe try to google and see what pops up for ya, I won’t be back to work till Monday.

No problem, I’ll dig around.

This stuff smells like paint thinner and tastes the way it smells. . . It alters the taste of my great tasting raspberry Surge :frowning: is this normal for Malate? I’ve always used Monohydrate, never any other creatines so I decided to give Malate a go. . . I’ve only used a few times thus far. Anyone else experience the taste/smell?

Thanks.

I think i tastes tangy, like crushed up sweet tarts. So I’m going with No.

I have understood creatine is being studied to be used as a form of TREATMENT on depression not to cause depression.

A 2007 study conducted by the Ness Ziona Mental Health Center reports the effects of creatine in treatment-resistant depressive and bipolar patients. The study involved eight depressive and two bipolar volunteers receiving 3 to 5 g of creatine monohydrate over a course of four weeks. One depressed participant improved significantly after a week of the study. The other seven depressive patients significantly improved while the two bipolar volunteers went into mania or hypomania. The researcher concluded that the preliminary study suggest creatine is beneficial for people suffering from depression, but may trigger mania in bipolar patients.

I could not find anything to suggest creatine is linked to causing depression. I did see several mentions of possibly “treating” depression.

That was just a brief look though.

Maybe I should spike some of my family’s kool aid with some creatine. . They are all bipolar lol… I’ll run my own clinical trials.

Hey corstijeir, sent you PM.

Creatine helps with more than just weightlifting/musclebuilding. Think about it, it is a major energy currency in the body. I totally believe it could help with depression, I know it makes me feel better when I take it, I feel better and have been diagnosed as bipolar before. I could have chosen the antipsychotic medication route and/or used lots of alcohol and hard drugs and be fucked up like many, but I choose to live a healthy lifestyle and workout and eat properly instead. I think a lot of people use “bipolar” as an excuse, I could have gone that route.

Anyways, creatine malate kicks ass.

Was just about to ask this too. I’ve taken reg creatine for decades & all brands are essentially flavorless, but psaint thinner is a good description, kind of chemical tartness that alters any shake.

On the other hand I feel great! & will be buying more. PR’s dropping like flies.

I just got the Malate and I think it smells like elmers Glue. Maybe hints of paint thinner. I mix it with BCAA’s and haven’t tasted it on its own. Is this normal or maybe a bad batch if it stinks?

I can smell it if I get right down in the tub, but I’ll second the sweet tarts comment.

When added to my MAG-10 or Plazma, it adds some enjoyable tang to the lime flavor.
