Just wondering what you guys think on his iodine recommendations, which seem to differ from this sub-forum. In it he says “I recommend 300 mcg of iodide per day, but somewhat more is fine.” He also mentioned a study in China saying that more than 800 mcg/day of iodine was associated with hypothyroidism ( this study perhaps? - Iodine Deficiency and Excess Coexist in China and Induce Thyroid Dysfunction and Disease: A Cross-Sectional Study ). That study shows that both the ‘excess iodine status group’ and ‘deficient iodine status group’ had an increased prevalence of thyroid nodules, whereas ‘sufficient iodine status group’ was much lower.
Personally I’ve been taking the LEF Sea-Iodine product (1000mcg) for awhile now and have yet to see my morning temperature hit above 97.3 (have tried different thermometers - afternoon temps seem to be around 98.2). Obviously there could be more to this than just iodine but I am definitely considering dropping the sea-iodine supplement and instead just focusing on foods with iodine and using iodized salt.
