Yeah my work is very physical thats for sure. Plus working outdoors adds to it. And as far as the hypoglycemic thing goes, i have non-diabetic hypoglycemia, so i have to eat in a way that avoids problems and yesterday, looking back on it i goofed up in the morning.
Sounds like strongman is just glorified construction work ![]()
If you can handle that, you can probably handle weights better that most ppl here ![]()
If you look at the history of strongman and stone lifting and where that all came from, a big part of it had to do with farm work from way back. Stone lifting history is very cool. If i remember right, there was something about some of these stones being what the young men of certain towns or villages would use to test if they had full strength yet or something like that. Theres a few documentaries out there and i would say its worth watching.
Either way some strongman events do relate to manual labor in my mind. Theres been a few events over the years (watched strongman since i was a kid) where i honestly thought i could do that just cause of work
Had a big day of roofing, feel pretty tired. Was fighting a lot of wind too which doesnt help anything. I want to train, and i will but i dont think i will do anything too crazy.

Not a big workout or a crazy one at all…just a little bit of chest and arms. Got it done in about 13 min. I was feeling pretty drained by the time i got to it…and didnt want to do it, but i knew i needed it. It pretty much just felt like getting reps in…not much of a pump and nothing super heavy. Just moderate work.
Ordered my barbell…now we wait. Supposedly will be here within the 8th and the 15th. Didnt go quite the same route as i planned but im happy with the choice. Theres a store here called the bodybuilding depot, and thats where i was planning on getting a bar, and i will also get plates there. However when i went in they didnt have much for bars, so i went with my second choice. So, i will get plates here soon too. Just not today.

Had a really good day with the family yesterday and today. Ate some tasty things and did lots of family stuff. Today was a pretty lazy day but we played with the boy and had a good time and had tacos for supper.
I fully intended to train tonight, but this afternoon/evening was a weird one. Not bad, just not routine…so no training tonight.
Didnt get much sleep monday night so i was exhausted yesterday before i ever went to work. As a result i had a hard time getting into the swing of things yesterday with our first full house stucco. And then i was pretty bagged and unmotivated once i got home…but i managed this :
Tire flips x 2 sets (lost track of reps but i guess you could call both sets rest pause…i wanted it to hurt at least a little)
Circuit of :
- Rdl/upright row/ohp/curls x 3 rounds with a lot of reps
- This was done with an empty barbell…it came in a few days early. Not much weight obviously, but enough that with good form and a lot of reps and almost no rest i at least had my heart rate up.
Wound up falling asleep on the couch after we put the boy to bed for an hour or so before i went to bed myself
So i dont have plates yet for my bar…but i am gonna do some stuff with the unloaded bar and im gonna do some stuff using bands strapped to the bar. I dont know what i will get out of that, but at least its something and it gets me used to a bar in my hands again.
Im gonna get in some good work tonight.
Day off today from work - rain…cant put stucco or stucco concrete on a wall in the rain. So…gonna try to spend a good day with the fam but also get some training in.

Got in a nice little back and biceps workout (and a some glutes/hams from the rdl) first thing this morning, with no food. All i took to my bsmt gym was a cup of coffee. Wasnt a big workout but it felt good, really tryed to focus on the mmc. That was my first time doing bands on a barbell row, and even without plates on, there was something about it that felt really good and different than a normal bb row…almost like the rom was more locked in…idk.
Im planning on getting in some kind of p.m. workout, as we have a very busy day today, so both “small” sessions kinda make up one bigger one. Im gonna get in some more legs and back i figure.
Tomorrow we have almost nothing going on, so i want to get in some strongman/strongman conditioning…something hard. I need a mindset challenge. I say this because my depression has been getting triggered more often the last couple weeks…we have stressors going on that i will talk about later…and so i just keep sorta shutting down emotionally and thats not good…so something hard to get my mind right.
You looking for any ideas?

Ok…so i have a tractor tire, a couple of what i call power blocks (home made…block of concrete with a handle…dont know what they weigh but they arent light and i can do lots of stuff with them…carrys, very heavy and akward swings, powerstairs, loading variations etc), an empty keg that i want to fill up at one point and a couple natural stones. Also have a kb
Is the tractor tire light enough that you can flip it, or is it purely for hitting with a sledge? And can you carry the natural stones or are they loadable weights only?
I can do flips with the tire and I can carry the stones, do stone to shoulder as well. They arent heavy, but they are awkward
