I don’t know. Trump’s main issue was a lack of empathy IMO. It wasn’t necessarily that we had kids in cages it was the POTUS’ attitude towards those kids.
Biden has been playing the empathy card hard. If it appears he is empathetically trying to do something about the issue, IMO it will be easy to put blame on the GoP for not cooperating.
I would say the biggest political issue is Biden planning on raising taxes on high earners. I say this with a bit of sarcasm but also truth in terms of keeping power. Why Democrats continue to do this is beyond me. They say we are going to enact these programs and these will help pay for them. And Republicans get to say “they are raising taxes and jobs will go away!”
I have no idea why they do this. Republicans will cut taxes and pay for it by…by giving billions to farmers, increasing money to the military, they don’t pay for it period. Democrats could easily do whatever the fuck they want and not raise taxes. They are the tax and spend party while Republicans are the cut taxes and spend party. Seems like an own goal.
But in seriousness I would rather they did that than not but it remains strange to me that Democrats seem beholden to continue doing this while their counterparts don’t even pretend to care about cost.

Being self-ambulatory is an over-rated attribute in leaders. Roosevelt got us through most of WWII in a wheelchair and countless leaders have been too drunk or drugged up to move themselves with anything resembling grace or dignity.
In an unrelated development, I may be misrepresenting the article I read on lunch, but my take-away was that Vladimir Putin has challenged President Biden to a public conversation.
I suppose it isn’t surprising if Biden doesn’t accept. He’s made it clear that his administration will continue to dismantle Trump-era policies like press conferences, racist borders and now, to add to the list, conversations with foreign leaders.

But a Democrat is back in office. Because we weren’t supposed to talk to certain foreign leaders the last time we had one but it was brave and courageous the next four years when that President talked to them.
I’m confused on where we stand on this now. Is it like the debt where we care about it again? Is speaking with Kim Jong treason again? I have a hard time keeping up with some things. I know you couldn’t let a President nominate a Supreme Court justice with over a year left before an election at one point. But then you could with a couple of months before an election later. My assumption would be that you can’t let the current president nominate one since we have a Presidential election coming up no matter when the opening is? Head scratchers.
Finally someone is focusing on the important things. I say we scrap debates for the next election and institute a presidential decathlon. In addition to the stair climb, we can add the ramp descent, the umbrella carry, and the one-handed water bottle pickup.

I’m a shit ton younger than Biden and I’ve done similar things numerous times. But I’m type A walk 100 miles type person.
I dunno people want different things in leaders. I wanted someone who didn’t tweet insane things constantly and live off watching cable news. Others I guess want someone who has never stumbled on stairs.
This latest bout of physical clumsiness is part of the totality of circumstances that make it obvious that Biden is, at best, an empty suit who is not in control of himself, let alone a Presidential administration.
Putin was obviously mocking Biden by challenging him to something as ordinary as an unscripted public conversation, knowing full well that Biden won’t take him up on it. Ordinary things like press conferences and answering questions on-the-spot are being avoided as well, and were for the entirety of the campaign. And it’s not like the media are giving him the Trump Treatment either. They’ll just ask him about his cats or something.
I can accept this perspective. I don’t agree with your conclusion that it is obvious he is an empty suit, but ok.
It’s lose-lose to accept. There’s nothing to be gained in any sense, even if you had someone much younger like GWB in office.

Although I generally agree that there is an anti-conservative bent to media this doesn’t carry any water with me. Trump didn’t have a lot of hard questions to answer by the standard of a normal POTUS… He just couldn’t answer in complete sentences.

Yeah but it doesn’t win anything. It doesn’t matter who the POTUS is. Let’s put GWB in there. Russia is trolling - if you accept (on the “dare” hypothesis) and do fine, they still get to crow about how they forced a supposedly superior country to try to prove their leader is really ready, while Putin does his “man’s man” thing. PR win for them, domestically and possibly within their sphere of influence. Loss of perceived prestige to us. Nothing gained because the status quo doesn’t change and there’s no reward on the table.
Get some flubs verbally (remember when GW was seen as incompetent?) and they can crow about how inept the leadership is.
