Biden 2021 - A Mediocre Middle Ground

When Richard Nixon, a Republican mind you, imposed price control/price gouging ban on the price of gas in the '70s, the result was looong lines to buy gas. Pretty sure the rich weren’t waiting in line for their gas.

Oil embargo….

Not really relevant to be honest.

Reduces supply in the US, prices have to go up now, until the market finds the equilibrium price; no lines. Fun fact, no material difference between oil embargo and the US of today “voluntarily” reducing it’s own supply of oil and causing gas prices to double or more.

Follow @jshaving 's example and read up on supply and demand. If you still feel the same, then you do you.

The us govt is forcing US oil producers to sell oil produced domestically, elsewhere?

We seem to be producing quite a lot domestically. Like, more than any country ever.

I took two economics courses in college.

I know what you’re talking about.

I really don’t care about economics. It can go in the trash can, if it means to regulating this corrupt gov’t and these companies.

You mean the current gov’t that you’re going to vote in for another 4 years?

Food is a very low profit business.

Now Apple, the iPhone God, they’re making gazillions off you. But they give mucho, mucho dollars to election campaigns. Guarantee no “price gouging” controls on Apple iPhones LOL.

The incongruity of these statements puts you right at home in the Biden/Harris camp.

I took two physics courses in college.

I know what people are talking about when they say I shouldn’t send it.

I don’t really care about physics.

I don’t find your patronizing cute.

From your statements and previous comments, they put you right at home in Maine.

I detect a subtle change in the hint of illiteracy. It’s either the A team taking over for the B team, or there’s someone smarter editing the posts.

Now, it’s a troll.

I can only guess at what you mean by that, but I certainly have managed to fit in very well here in Maine for the last couple of decades.

Plenty of locals are also upset at anyone who points out the realities of radical policy implementation.

Well, it wasn’t meant to be an insult just something stupid to say.

It’s AI.

I did edit my post from “he’s” to “it’s”. Makes sense.

As an old fogie, I’m gonna have to learn to integrate AI into my world view.

Jimmy Carter is probably the most honest President the modern US has ever had. His popularity -zero.

The Obamas are god’s gift to us all, especially the downtrodden!

Obamas Warn America of Perils of Wealth and Privilege at DNC:

Jim Jones was a guest of the Carter White House. The First Lady was a big fan. Yep, THAT Jim Jones.

Carter’s likeable and genuinely good character is precisely what made him entirely unfit for the job. Public policy doesn’t mix well with strong feelings about how the world ought to be, and a lot of folks still need to learn this the hard way.

More dispatches from my town tonight. Shootings are happening like clockwork multiple times per week now. When I say this stuff NEVER happened when I moved here, I mean it simply didn’t happen. Deadly violence was very rare. It is very sad to watch it all happen to what was once a normal, functioning city.

People are not interchangeable widgets. Immigration policy matters tremendously.

He’s right. We need to worry about the kinds of people who can buy homes in places like Martha’s Vineyard.

Whew! Good thing the police didn’t give a good description of the perpetrators! The ACLU, NAACP, etc. would have been [feigned]outraged!!

I think it’s yet again another example of the utter insanity that has gripped our society: the fact that we are not allowed to give physical descriptions[what race] of suspects in crimes because it might be “racist” or cast a “bad light” on the general behaviors of a particular race. They will say what color shirt/pants/shoes the suspect has, whether is is a male/female (lol, although these days that can also be questionable), perhaps height/weight but that is about it. But discussing one very important piece of identifying information…are we looking for an asian dude? a white dude? or a black dude? That we cannot do, for if we said the race of the suspect, that would be the most egregious thing that happened…never you mind the aggravated assault/murder/rape that just took place. NO! The most important thing is “feelings” and we don’t want to start stating facts and having them show a majority of the crimes all seem to involve one particular race. Or put another way, it seems as if one particular group of people seem to have a harder time than others of peacefully fitting in with society and thus tend to commit a much higher percentage of crimes.

@twojarslave would you say there is an increased incidence of “white flight” in your town and in neighboring town/cities as a result of both the policies enacted as well as the building of flophouses and similar places? If so, to where would these people move? Also, with all of these increased taxes, is any of that money seeing its way to the police department so they can hire more sheriffs, purchase more cars or better equipment, etc.? Or is it predominantly going towards all of those lovely social programs you discussed…which will surely make everything better and soon yall will be dancing on buttercups and rainbows.
I still can’t believe about the flop houses, damn man [SMH], that’s rough. But I’ve got a “low income multi-family housing unit” (as we can figure out, that is liberal code for ghetto/cheap apartments) being built right outside of my neighborhood. I feel for my neighbors whose backyards butt up against the new apartments, their property values will be taking a nosedive.
Unfortunately I live in the suburbs of a large city so the city government is all democratic yet they make decisions affecting the suburbs, which are all predominantly republican. It’s a really shitty, misrepresentative system. They seem to think putting two very disparate classes of income right on top of each other will yield great results. They never seem to care about the safety and security of the people in the neighborhoods who have much more skin in the game and thus more to lose versus the people in the apartment complexes. At least where I live we can concealed carry, open carry a weapon, so we can defend ourselves and not have to hope and pray the police come soon like they do in California or other similar places.
