At least these guys will aid in the kinder, gentler Taliban.
Berghdahl - I’d almost forgotten about him. Still not sure why we lose sleep over people who voluntarily put themselves in those situations.
I am sorry i do not play gotcha with people that have hard time reading and underatanding what they read. It is an admition that Trump made a deal with the Taliban. Biden had the opoortunity to cut the deal with the Taliban with an executive order. He changed lots of policies since day 1 from Trumps administration. Since he did not. It means he tought the plan is solid. He further proved he trusts thE Taliban when he gave them the names of US citizens.
In other words Trumps plan was perhaps solid. Biden agreed with it. However he completely fucked it up. Period.
Should Biden have done that?
Should? He did it. And he did it poorly.
“The left screwed this up!”
“no, the right screwed this up!”
Can we stop picking sides/politicising this Afghanistan debacle. This was a royal clusterfuck form day one… picking sides over the issue will only result in meaningless squabbling
That wasn’t the question.
Apparently, some can’t, and they are doing exactly what they have been trained to do.
The question does not matter.
Trained to do what? Who is training them? I may be a Jewish lizard person that controls the weather but even then, I’m unaware of the concept you’re speaking of here.
The USA isn’t representative of some autocratic society that is systemically indoctrinating the populace
I’d prefer if we all had a coherent, constructive conversation about the situation in Afghanistan as opposed to “bUt BiDeN”, “bUt TrUmP”
These two political figures are largely irrelevant relative to a situation that has been unfolding for what… Twenty years…
Pot calling the kettle black
Figured I’d add to the din…

I think Biden’s faith in Afghan forces was totally misplaced (obvious at this point). This was never going to be a graceful exit, but that tactical miscalculation made it worse. People died who may have otherwise lived, and we lost whatever crediblity we had left on Afghanistan. He’s the Commander-in-chief, so I do ultimately blame him for that blunder.

I think we need to acknowledge what a bitch move it is to surrender a war and then leave it to your successor to execute the terms of your surrender (i.e. the hard part). If Trump actually wanted us out of Afghanistan, he should have taken us out.
-
Trump and Biden share blame for leaving Americans, allies and equipment in Afghanistan. Trump had almost a full year in office to start executing the withdrawal, but I don’t recall a single planeload of our Afghan allies leaving the country in 2020. As for Biden… see point #1.

Obama had enough good will after the killing of bin Laden to get us the fuck out of there under the guise of victory but didn’t.
It appears we’re back to where we started 20 years ago - the Taliban in charge of Afghanistan with an Islamist terror organization running around at large.
If you make party affiliation a core part of your identity, it’s hard not to get personally offended and defensive when you have a conversation like this one.
The indoctrination is real.
I haven’t picked a side, genius. I look at each issue independently and don’t need some high school educated youtube personality to explain to me how the world works.
There’s something bizarre about this. George Carlin had the right idea.

Rrrriiiiiiggggghhhhhtttt
You guys should definitely check read the book summarizing the Afghanistan Papers. It’s an excellent summary, told through declassified interviews with military and political leaders of the twenty years wasted in Afghanistan to the tune of 85 billion. To be fair, it was an unwinnable clusterfuck more than a decade before Trump and Biden.
Am I supposed to read that as if it were spoken by Simple Jack?
I don’t think winning was an objective unless
we mean winning as in winning the lottery.
