The defenses are incredible. As long as it’s a Republican they are happy to deflect and defend anything. “That wasn’t Bushes fault it started in 1950!”
I mean when your that far gone with blind partisanship I don’t know what can be done. It’s basically a reflex for some people.
Since Trump promised to leave Afghanistan and didn’t deliver and Biden did and they are all flipping out I really want Biden to just carry out the rest of Trump’s bullshit promises to watch them twist in the wind to attack it. Defend Bush and Iraq or ignore Covid deaths but pretend that Benghazi was World War 2.
I mean I’ve asked if of Pat for years. Why? What do you get out of it? We have two big political parties that have shown over and over again that their stances will vastly change over time to stay in power and they are both rife with corruption.
I mean you can’t even call out screw ups? “What’d the Republican do?” Started a long war that cost lives and tons of money with nothing to show for it. Ah, well you know not his fault and all that. Probably would have gone better if it wasn’t for Democrats, etc. Goes back to the 50’s.
“What’d the Democrat do?” Got out of the longest war in US history. Definitely fucked up some parts of it though no doubt.
“What?! The money wasted, the lives, the equipment, what a horrific travesty, Democrats ruin everything all the time!”
Biden’s gonna build the wall with the alligator moat and marines shooting people on sight that Pat described as wanting and he will be really pissed. Because it was exactly what he wanted but it sucked ass because Democrats.
Yeah, it was creepy how the idea that children would be among the dead didn’t bother him. But at the same time he thinks abortion is murder. He’s a special kind of weirdo.
Kind of my point. Most of the stuff they could buy elsewhere. But we did give it to them for free.
I’m mostly interested as to the things that we left them that they wouldn’t have been able to buy on the open market. Not sure how much of a real category this actually is, but it’s the interesting part none the less.
Sure I will play along, just because this is an easy job. And I will use only left leaning sources, because you probably believe that shit…
Since I am almost certain you are going to nit-pick the exact number, the actual number is not known. The numbers have been estimated between $24 billion to $90 billion. Some are also splitting hairs on what constitutes ‘military equipment’
Now on top of tons of weapons, we also left pallets of cash-
Don’t believe your lying eyes. This was a major success, everything went fine and couldn’t have gone better.
I was dealing with the facts as were presented at the time. Of course, I know in this day and age, if you say something costs $25.00 but it really costs $24.99 it calls for automatic dismissal. Like these idiotic ‘fact checks’ works currently.
“Did Biden withdraw of American troops in the middle of the night, on Friday August 14th?” Answer: FALSE. The withdrawal happened in the early morning hours of August 15th. Therefore the claim that Biden withdrew American troops on Friday August 14, in the middle of the night is false.
Stupid conservatives didn’t know Afghanistan was in a different time-zone.
What sources are these? Name which source has given an accurate tally of the amount of equipment left on August 30, 2021?
Estimates have been all over the place. And the two things we don’t have actual numbers for is how many people are actually left and how much freshly minted, cold hard cash and the exact number of military equipment left.
Are you contesting that the U.S. did not leave billions of dollars worth of top notch military equipment left? Is the hill your willing to die on is that, ‘well it’s not $85 billion, so it’s all good, nothing to see here’? The estimates at the time were $85 billion, number touted from The Hill, to Forbes, to independent media in the dying days of August. Estimates range as low as $24 billion to over $100 billion. Nobody knows. Correction, somebody does know, they just won’t tell us. If you have privied information and exact amounts, I am all ears. And what about the people? Estimates of the people left behind range from just over 100 to over 1000, who is right? Which one is correct. If you want to be hung up on exact amounts, then feel free to provide them. I do not see how it makes the situation better or worse frankly.
What I would like to hear is a real defense of the situation. I want to see someone justify that. Or even, show one thing that this administration has done in the past 8 months that has not completely failed… Sorry let me correct the date to be accurate to the day, 7 months, 13 days, or 225 days. Tomorrow this will be wrong…
Pat says this but he’s a liar and a piece of garbage. He has blocked several posters here who have hurt his feelings with facts so he really doesn’t want to hear any defense nor is he even able to since he blocked posters who might do that.
If he read his sources that he posted, he didn’t because he never does, he would have seen that they don’t support his narrative. One even states in the opening paragraph how the equipment was left with those we gave it to, the Afghan army, and the Taliban got it from them rather than we left it for them.
I read on the internet that Joe Biden can now transcend both space and time. Sources say he gained this ability after communing with Amazonian shamans on a weekend-long ayahuasca trip.
Joe Biden’s transcendental psychic visit to the Tree of Life Synagogue would probably go un-noticed by the members.
After all, Joe Biden was a young 18 wheeler driver when he traversed time and space to pay his solemn respects after the tragic shooting. Even if they were somehow attuned to Biden’s cosmological frequency, they may not have recognized him at such a young age.
If you don’t believe Joe Biden, ask Corn Pop. He will tell you that Biden is the real deal. That’s how Joe Biden honors his ancestors who worked in the coal mines.
As if any of this is difficult to believe for a guy who graduated top of his class on a full scholarship before getting arrested in Africa for his support to Nelson Mandela.
Where am I defending him? I guess if saying there are things that can be criticized but within reason is defending then I am. At the same time, an idiot like pat saying the withdrawal from Afghanistan is the worst thing a president has ever done, is silly tribalism.
He stuck to the Afghanistan pullout. I believe they will be returning to the policy of stay in Mexico before applying for asylum.
I honestly don’t invest as much of myself in some politician, unlike some on here, to really care. I am not a tribalist. Too many people look at politics as a game and only care about their team winning, without regard to what is won. They are simply happy to see the other side lose. It’s like a fan of some sports team saying, “we won.” No, you sit in the stands, you didn’t win, you didn’t play, but you did pay. You are not on the team. Politicians are the same.
As far as Biden’s performance, my life is no different than it was under Trump or Obama.
Now you know how many felt under Trump. But we could go not too far back and consider Carter, Ford or Nixon. Some could point to Reagan and say the same thing. Or either Bush. And we know how many felt about Obama. The point being, the idea of the worst president is not even worth arguing about as it can’t be measured. With every election, there is someone calling the new guy the worst.
“Comon’ fat! There’s nuthin’ I mean, you know the thing. I mean we are going to put truinabibdabapresure,uh. We didn’t know Tesla, I mean the uh, uh, you know, the talyban was gonna take over Lybia so quickly.”
How about the biden call to Ghani:
Well you just have to ask two questions to know if bidenfenders are genuine.
Name one decision the biden administration has made is not currently in crisis?
Name one foreign policy success by the biden administration?
I haven’t found a person yet who can answer these questions.
46 is a low water mark in presidential history. Everything about this withdrawal is so unimaginably fucked up, that if you were to tell somebody 5 years ago it would go this horribly, you would be chalked up to crazy, irrelevant and dumb. That there is no way. The more facts I learn about this debacle the worse it gets.
Let’s not forget there are unknown quantities of American citizens still stuck, abandoned there. Not to mention Afghan allies and green card holders. Numbers have been all over the place, but it has been universally agreed to be at least over 100.
Somebody knows, but they are not going to say. So it continues.
I am sure most people weren’t alive during the Iranian hostage crisis. 52 people were stranded in Iran after the Shah fell in November of 1979. Until January 1981, every single day it was the first thing on every news program every night. It ruined any shot of Carter getting re-elected.
52 people crippled the Carter administration. Now there are at least 100+ Americans stranded in Afghanistan with no way out, no hope of getting out and if you are to speak of them, your twatter account, or instagram, or whatever gets suspended. And it’s always an ‘accident’.
I am being generous when I say these people will be lost with nary a care given by this administration. Already mentioning it is old news, we’re being told to ‘get over it’ and that this was the best it could have been.
I got nothing against the refugees, but Americans should have come first. And they should be vetted and released to Martha’s Vineyard to the care of those who really wanted to bring them, over our own citizens. And if a citizen is not a priority for a government, is that government actually working?
The single worst decision ever made by any president ever, period. No one decision comes close to the stupidity and magnitude of this one. You can try to find a worse one, you won’t. This is the bottom.
Since it’s you asking (and I’m thus reminded of your gotcha thread re: Hunter Biden’s laptop purportedly torpedoing Biden’s candidacy), I’ll go ahead and choose this week’s meetup btwn Presidents Biden and Zelensky.
And lemme guess, this too was actually an abject failure… because no quid pro quo, right?
