My hips feel really tight right now; I may have to deal with that. Press felt great, though. This is the best my shoulders have felt since before hunting season last fall. This workout was conducted with equal parts hatred and anger.

Good deadlift day. Neither of those PRs was a max effort. Bench also feeling good. I may break my internet anonymity and post the deadlift videos if I can figure out how.

Thank you, sir. I’m pretty stoked about how the deadlift is moving right now.

I started warming up for squats but just could not get my hips loosened up. They’ve been feeling tight a lot lately, but squatting here was actually physically painful. I worked up to 275 lb but there’s no way I was going any higher. I scheduled an appointment to get them massaged at the end of the week. I may try to squat again tonight and see how it goes.

While I’m certainly not going to brag about my bench press, this was a PR for me. And it was a very submaximal effort; there was plenty more in the tank. It is progress, however, and I’m pretty happy with it.
I’m sure the front squats were a PR too, but I’d have to really dig through my logs; I don’t really keep track of that. But overall, I felt really good tonight.
Everything is going really well right now, my hip/squat issues not withstanding. Hopefully I can get that addressed and ride this wave for a little while.

I was pretty underfed yesterday, which probably led to the lower numbers today. My bad. Today’s my wife’s birthday, so I don’t imagine I’ll be underfed today.

This was the last workout of my current program. I’m happy with how it went, so I’m going to just run it again for the next ten weeks.

I just got the Rogue dip attachment for my rack. I’m excited to program dips in somewhere this time around.

Damn didn’t realise you were a giant. You and @Frank_C should start a club. LOL

Sucked me in to this one, Simo!

@hillbillyk it’s awesome to see another homemade deadlift platform in the house. I lift in my basement and have a similar setup. I used to be on here for hours a day logging and chatting, but stepped away to get my priorities straight. I’m kind of back now and I’ll try to check in on your progress. 210 lbs looks good on you. I’m 6’5" and 238 as of this morning. I need to drop some weight before I get too fluffy.

Glad to have you along @Frank_C

The deadlift platform was the first thing I built when we moved into this house. Commercial gyms make my ever-present anger much worse, so one of the two requirements for a house was room to build my own weight room. (The other requirement was a yard at least big enough to shoot my bow.)

I’ve been as heavy as 240, but spent most of my life as the really skinny guy. While my main focus is strength, I’m super happy where my aesthetics are right now. I got a lot of comments from people at the lake this year, which is nice; I’ve never been the “jacked” guy before. I’ve just transitioned to gaining some weight, though. My strength numbers have been moving well and I’d like to keep them going for the rest of the year, although fall is the hardest time for me to make progress. Hopefully our respective weights will match up somewhere in the middle as you’re on your way down and I’m on my way up!

This will be a low stress/volume week.

My hips felt a little better during squats today, but still tight. My massage therapist worked on them for an hour on Friday. She also found my IT bands which were rock hard tight. She worked those out, too; that hurt like the blazes of hell and had me whimpering like a child. Going to see her again Wednesday for more hip work.

I had to cut the split squats a little short because my lower back cramped up something terrible. I’m not sure why that would be. I usually stay pretty hydrated. I’ll try drinking more water and eating more bananas? I don’t know. Hopefully this doesn’t persist.

That looks awful. I cap my sets at 8 or 10 reps per leg and I don’t even like doing that many.

I keep thinking 225 is my sweet spot, but I might settle for 230. I’m training for maintenance of my size and improved strength. A little extra weight helps with the latter.

That is the understatement of the year

Ha. Yeah this sucks. But I figure since I’m going to put on some weight I’ll add in something to grow the sticks after I’ve done all my strength movements for the day.

Luckily I have lots of range of motion to make it as terrible as possible.

Also, I’m not sure you two guys have any room to talk about awful. @simo74 didn’t you just finish six weeks of 20-rep back squats?
