I didn’t make great time on the walk. Most of this walk was down a dirt backroad and some dude stopped to warn me about rattlesnakes. He was drinking beers in his truck on his way home from work and really wanted to chat. He was a nice dude, so I hung around and talked to him for a bit.
I hate training even more in the summer when it’s nice.

Conditioning: Farmer carries, 35 yards out, turn around and 35 yards back, then 5 bxrpee chin-ups. Repeated 4 times, no rest in between.
Evidently I woke up this morning and chose violence. Geez. I did this workout in the morning, fasted except for a couple of servings of Surge.
The conditioning had me gassed and grasping; that was a tough one. For me, at least. I need to work on adding rounds to this, but I like it as a workout. It just takes so long to set up. I need to get a cheap set of crappy plates to just keep loaded on my farmer handles for the summer. So when I want to use them I can just grab them and go.
Every muscle in my body was ultra pumped after all of this. Those farmer carries even gave me a @simo74-esque forearm pump.

Haha in reality this is my competitiveness more than anything. I’m going on a hunting trip to the Rockies with 3 other dudes in September. I know (from experience) that my regular strength and conditioning is just fine for what we’ll encounter. However, I believe that they believe I focus too much on the strength and not enough on the conditioning. So they think they’re going to leave me in the dust. It is now my goal to watch them all die at my feet, either on the trip or in preparation for it…
So my conditioning has increased considerably.

Haha yes they are friends, of course. Though I believe I could put all 3 of them on my back, at the same time, and squat them!
I am very much excited about this trip. I just now have extra motivation for the summer.

My first few warmup sets felt terrible and I thought it was going to be a rough night, but then something snapped and everything started feeling light. I had plenty more in the tank on that top set. I also very much like the landmine hack squat for at-home use. I think I saw that on this site somewhere. Man does it give me a quad pump. It’s a little bit awkward to get into position for the set (and it hurts my elbow like the blazes of Hell), but it’s the best alternative I’ve found yet for some quad-specific work with the equipment I have available.

Thanks @simo74 and @ChickenLittle. I’ve been forcing PRs too much on the deadlift; these squat ones just keep happening on their own. I’ll take it, especially considering squat is my favorite!
Unfortunately my (over) self confidence is usually misplaced. I think I can do a lot of things that I probably cannot.
And trust me, there’s plenty of whining. You just have to read between the lines! (unless whinging is something I don’t understand…)
Whinging is just a fancier word for whining. You can tell because of the extra G.
