What do you choose Zep? Hypothetical: You’ve been diagnosed with cancer, what is your choice on how to treat it? I am genuinely curious and have asked you this question before (I believe I asked if you would trust a beloved family member to an alternative doc or a licensed M.D.) and did not get it answered.

How would you choose to be cured of your cancer?

Not any of the conventional methods as they are designed to be revenue-generating not curative in any way.

Non-answer. What would you choose? You have stated multiple times, “Let the people choose.” You have a chance in this hypothetical scenario…what would you choose?

Personally, I thought this one was better, lol.

Well if you weren’t such a gawddamned dolt! :joy: :joy:

I sincerely appreciate you making this Monday better haha

The problem with that is that the people who spread this kind of talk act very much like cult leaders, encouraging people to stop taking real medicines and spend money on their stuff. They also create a hostile environment where desperately sick people are treated like shit because they don’t buy into this crap. Yes they do. God, the number of times I’ve been told to stop taking my medication by ‘alternative’ people.

And woo doesn’t generate revenue? I’m fascinated by the “woke.” I never realized people could be quite this paranoid (I’ll leave it at that adjective) until the Internet. I’ve never met one of you in real life. How do you handle trusting airline pilots or taxi drivers with your life? Or engineers when you ride an elevator or drive over a bridge? What about your food supply? How do you really know that organic apple isn’t full of glyphosate? Will that GMO corn help me spin spider silk and become the next Spider Man? We know that shit is real, right? They secret message us in the comics? Do you really think pharmaceutical companies run evil genius laboratories? Does every water treatment facility (or at least most) in the US intentionally poison their own kids? What about your kids’ teachers and school bus drivers? Awaken me.

Careful what you wish for.

Dude, if taking one of those pills would allow me to win unrealistic but well choreographed CGI fights, I’m there. Wait. But doesn’t red dye cause cancer?

False. Cancer isn’t real. Profits cause tumors. The only cure is medicinal marijuana. They use chemo to kill people who figure out the scheme.

Stay woke.

Well, in any event, a little lemon and honey tea will make me all better. Purges the toksins and killz the Kanser sells

I actually saw a horrible episode of this play out in real life, which is probably why I have a downright allergic reaction to this type of stuff.

I’ve never been shy about discussing my addiction/recovery here on these forums, and this is part of it. Early on (for me), maybe 15 or so years ago there was a big push from a whole slew of little pop up organizations to do away with 12 step formats. People would come in to meetings talking all kinds of fancy, interesting and hard core shit. Lots of confidence with very little substance, and usually a good bit of wish list type stuff designed to sound attractive to people that are desperate.
So there’s this woman, woman A we’ll call her because I can’t remember her name anymore. She’s just out of rehab and desperately trying to put her life together. She’s scrambled like an egg though after a rough couple of years. Fresh out of rehab, she’s on anti-depressants and a mood stabilizer because , no surprise, she’s depressed and unstable. In spite of the hardships, she’s managed to put together a few months sober. For the sake of reference- it usually takes people about a year to 18 months to return to their previous cognitive abilities. But, she’s doing the right things and making progress.

Along comes Michelle (not one I’ll ever forget). She has lot of confidence, and get this- like 2 years sober. Thats a big deal to new comers. Might as well be a decade or more from where they’re standing. She has this fiery delivery of all kinds of hard core sprinkled with recovery words, and ends her spiel by directing her close at Woman A, saying she’ll tell her more after the meeting. Afterwards when everybody’s gathering up to go get coffee and hang out, she culls A off to the side to give her the real scoop.

It turns out that “the real scoop” involves dropping all of the meds one might currently be taking so that she can get “real sobriety”, and getting together with a different group that are all in on the good stuff. So A starts hanging with these folks and drops her meds. She’s still coming around to our meetings, a little less, and expressing some doubt about the other bunch. But she’s never felt better because she dropped her meds, and you know what the do to you anyways… Then she just kind of stopped showing up. A couple of people that were close to her were keeping tabs on her, but she was pretty much gone.

Then she blew her head off with her husbands shot gun.

Its impossible to say whether she would have done that anyways, but after asking around, it turns out that this Michelle has done the same thing before, with similar but less tragic results- usually just a horrendous relapse. I ran into her again on one of her recruiting junkets and confronted her about it as rudely as possible. She is completely convinced that hers is the right way, but at least me and a few other people have run interceptions on her the few other times she has shown up.

Anyways, point of the story is this- I hate these people that have pie in the sky solutions to some very difficult life problems. They don’t seem to give a single fuck about the actual health or well being of the people that they cull, as long as they get what they want out of them. Whether its the ego massage of trying to “save” someone from the Big whatever, or the money that they extract in the process- it has nothing to do with helping anybody but themselves.

I read that in Dwight’s voice from the office. If anybody is a fan they should remember the classic “False. Black bears are best…Fact. Bears eat beets. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.”

Its actually Jim impersonating Dwight, but anyhow, back to Zep helping us all get woke.

That’s horrible. Question: What’s in it for Michelle? Does she have some sort of financial incentive for pulling people over to her system?

But yet you made the choice. How is that possible?
