I have done this on at least fifty separate posts on these board in the last year. At no point have you given an inch, ever, in response to any of these. It’s completely pointless to argue with you except in the hopes that anyone else reading the thread understands the purpose of clinical trials and a multi-step process of study to document the benefit of a drug on various clinical and patient-centered endpoints as well as the side effect profile and any unanticipated adverse events.
I have done this on at least fifty separate posts on these board in the last year. At no point have you given an inch, ever, in response to any of these. Same here. Your inability to understand what effects the profit motive has is astounding. This procedure has been available for 10 years in other countries with very positive outcomes with very little, if any, side effects. A monumental threat to the pharma industry. But I guess those real life examples don’t count because it wasn’t performed in a clinical trial? Drugs are approved all the time that have a cascade of side effects. Stem cells do not. You approve of policies that make the public suffer so that Big Pharma can keep it’s profits up. You must be so proud.
You were given a link to a story where stem cell treatment blinded people. Blind, as in never able to see again. That’s a side effect I think.
Were they the stem cells or how they were handled? And how does that tragedy compare to all those who have been helped? And how does the risk to reward ratio compare to pharmaceuticals?
I’m not sure, since I’m no scientist. You know who might be able to figure it out? Scientists doing clinical trials.
So scientists only do clinical trials? The questions I asked are valid and only require stats. I guess since you can’t answer or are afraid of the answers it is best to deflect the questions with something else.
Swing and a miss (@pfury).
I don’t study cancer, or atherosclerosis, or diabetes etc… So no, I can’t make an informed decision about gene therapy, or prescription drugs on my own.
But you know what? I can rely on PhDs who’ve dedicated their entire careers to figuring out what works. When they say it works and figure out all the side effects and risks. Then I’ll decide whether the risk is worth it.
Informed decisions, imagine that.
Wonderful conversation. This takes me back to a discussion that I had before in this very thread, where I presented the results of stem-cell therapy research in a few diseases relevant to my own field.
There is a ton of research currently being done on the use of stem cells in acute myocardial infarction (“heart attack” for all you laypersons out there
) and chronic heart failure.
To date, the body of evidence would best be summarized as “It looks promising, some studies show a benefit, some don’t, we probably need to hash out some specifics such as the type of stem cells used and how to deliver them for maximum effectiveness before this is all ready for prime time in the heart-failure population”
Ironically enough, one of the heaviest criticisms of stem-cell research to date is that it’s all industry-funded (as you might guess, industry-sponsored trials are known to have a higher risk of bias). I understand why this happens (naturally, research into any new drug or therapy is going to be industry-funded) and it’s not a reason to reject the findings outright, but it’s incredibly ironic that our resident joker repeatedly says that life in the United States is all a Big Pharma conspiracy ignores the fact that nearly all stem-cell studies to date are also industry-funded studies.
In summary, I am not saying stem-cell therapy has no utility for any medical condition, nor am I saying we should dismiss it and stop researching. I am saying that any therapy needs to be rigorously studied, understood, and proven effective for a particular disease or desired effect before it is made available for widespread use, which is done by…performing clinical trials…and thus, here we are, repeating the same cycle that we’ve been through with Zep a few dozen times by now about why we do clinical trials.
Zep wants you to believe that this is all being silenced, no one is talking about it, and that Big Pharma is trying to suppress this information. Baloney. There is plenty of high-profile research being done with stem cells, in the United States and elsewhere, and when it’s demonstrated that someone has a safe, reliable and effective technique that results in a clinically relevant improvement in meaningful endpoints for a specific disease or population, it’s likely to be adopted in that arena.
Trolly McTrollerson, every place that treats with Stem Cells or Marijuana is driven by profit.
Brah, too many words, shill brah.
So extend this to stem cells. Very simple,
Again, you have no idea what you are talking about. What therapies are medicinal cannabis or stem cells keeping off the market?
I have no knowledge of anything in this thread whatsoever, but it really amuses me.
It reminds me of a merry go round.
You guys are just wasting your efforts feeding the vampire.
Zep is a whetting stone for these positions
Dipshit, you said, “Your inability to understand what effects the profit motive has is astounding.” Stem Cell treatment centers are also driven by profit. Stem Cell treatment centers want you to NOT use Big Pharm solutions in favor of their profit driven solution. Get it? Probably not.
I understand you’re a hypocrite, but even the 3 or 4 brain cells bouncing around that hollow skull of yours must recognize how idiotic you sound by continuing to repeat this nonsense.
Or not, you are dumb as fuck.
Good is free, bad is for profit, obvi, bro. The people that have good stuff and are selling it? Well that’s just so they can keep the doors open, not for actual profit…like, just making ends meet. Like in the movies!
Wait, are you telling me Doctors don’t hook up in broom closets like on Grey’s Anatomy!?!? This is outrageous (leaves med school)!
Big Pharma IS suppressing this information as they can’t patent a stem cell and can’t compete with them using their garbage drugs. The fact that they are doing much research and that it isn’t available says something. Luckily HB810 was passed in Texas. So they will be the 1st state for stem cell therapy legalization in the treatment of things other than joint issues. However, it must be said that the reason why this passed was because it was Senators who were effected by this. Does anyone honestly believe if these were members of the public this would have passed? Another example of how the public can go fuck itself. This country is run for those with power and privilege. The rest of us are just plebs and inconsequential.

Since your area of interest is of all things heart.
Plenty of other positive studies.
This has been offered for years in other countries, successfully.
But the public here just have to travel outside of this country for real help or potentially just die.
And big Pharma wants to keep competing therapies off the market so they can continue their monopolistic behavior. They seek to limit your choices so that they can make more profit. It is the main reason why they lobbied against cannabis. They know they can’t compete or patent a plant. Why is this so difficult for you to understand? Re-examine your ideology and admit that it doesn’t work in the real world. Only in books and lectures.
You clearly have no understanding of the issue. Hopefully you can’t vote. Decades of propaganda have rendered your brain catatonic.
