Betaine HCL- Need Clearing Up

So it seems like I’ve been through every post about HCL therapy, but I still need a few things cleared up.

I read Thib’s Insulin Protocol article and decided to do the test for stomach acid.
I ended up at 4000mg of hcl, and still no warmth or, so I thought (or hoped) it was just crappy quality. So I got 625mg tablets of Betaine HCL from Source naturals, and I finally got some burn at 6250mg. So I seem to be hypochloridic to the max.

Any estimate on how many weeks it will take me to get to where I don’t need the HCL?

Yet another problem that seems to have cropped up is (here comes a good bit too much information) that over the last 2 months, I have been having a lot of diarrhea. I then wondered whether I just didn’t have sufficient stomach fauna/enzymes, so I tried the Activia yogurt with Biffidus Regularus for awhile, that seemed to help a bit.

If I take more probiotics/digestive enzymes, will they survive if I have a higher PH?
And, how can I help make sure my body produces the enzymes it needs to?

And another set, do the regular HCL levels need to be there for ALL nutrients (I’m guessing yes?)?

I ask because even with 1.25g of protein/lb I was sorer on the third day after a workout than the two days previous, and this is after I figured I should have been more adapted (about a month, I was still getting sorer on the third day). I did push through the soreness, yes.

Will a higher PH inhibit absorption of drugs? I would figure they just pass through the stomach without being broken down and then on into the intestines where they are absorbed and sent to the liver to be processed into the body.

Thanks.

Edited to hopefully add clarity

You’ve got a clusterfuck of issues and your questions are poorly organized.

1.) The organisms in probiotics are acidophiles (acid loving) they usually thrive on a lower pH. (P.S. your stomach acid is generally a 2, not 1).

2.) No, you do not need massive levels of HCl in order to digest lots of things, that’s what enzymes (The ones you make, not the ones you take) are for.

3.) If you just started working out again it’s normal to be sore for days, that’s called DOMS, (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness).

It’ll clear up, if it doesn’t up your protein and get more sleep, you’ll be amazed what you can recover from.

4.) As far as low acid interfering with other drugs, it seems possible. But I imagine you’d have a slew of other issues if your pH was really high enough to mess with that.

5.) As far as the digestive issues, your money isn’t going completely into the toilet.

But I’d up my protein intake if I were you. Protein has a tendency to solidify things.

If I didn’t hit on what you were looking for try rephrasing it in clear, concise paragraphs.

I know i have a clusterfuck of issues, I just figured it would be easier to make one topic since I’m kinda centering around HCL supplementation…

I’ll edit it and be more clear. But I’m pretty sure you answered most of them regardless, so thanks.

I’ve been working out, and I dont seem to adapt, even eating 1.25g protein/lb, and when I’m sorer the 3rd day than the first 2 i figure somethings awry, which is why I said (after reading the article) “hmm, maybe I’m not even absorbing all this crap I’m eating”

The betanine HCL therapy time depends on how much stress you’re under and the amount of time it’s taken your stomach acid to get that low.

Poliquin says some clients have to take it daily forever because they’re under so much stress.

thats me, its a wonder supplement for high strung people.

What is your age? Dr.Jonathan Wright in his book “Why Stomach Acid is Good for You” says it’s common for HCL production to go down with age.

Have you isolated a specific symptom, then try say 4 capsules HCL per meal for awhile and see if it doesn’t help.

How old are you?
