In the beginning there was the earth, the flora, the fauna, and the creatures of land and sea. And among them was Man. But lo, did Man yet live in ignorance among the trees.
Then did Man taste flesh. And grow strong in body, sharp in mind and agile in the hunt. He would walk upright and populate the globe. He would build cities that touched the sky and wonders that stretched the mind. And it was good, for Man was strong and his women fair.
But all was not right, for there were dissenters among Man. They did say, “Thou shall not eat the fish of the sea or the beasts of the land, for to do so is uncouth.” And lo, did They win over the hearts and minds of many men. And Man did once more grow weak and dumb.
Yet all was not lost, for there were some who resisted. Some who spoke reason and truth. And their cause alone was righteous.

The best P+C meal on the planet is a huge steak cooked Blue (really rare for those that dont know) and enough potatoes to soak up all the blood and juice leaking out of the steak.
Mmmmmmmmm Yum!
This is why you and I have “bulk bellies”.
Go ahead and include me in that!

I just gave you 4 stars for that. I would’ve given you a 5th, but man, you did take 5 years to come back to the meat.

Beautiful…just…beautiful…
I’ve heard many scientists speak about how the addition of meat to a meatless diet in ancient hominids is what caused their brains to continue to grow at this rate…

That’s some profound shit ![]()
And as a side note: I can’t believe there is a chick that looks like the 6/16 powerful image. My god.
my first statement is that pigs are nature’s candy. no other living, breathing creature is as much the gerber multi-tool of the culinary world, as the magestic pig.
my second statement, is exactly the above, but about said 6/16 girl.
I’m probably going to get flamed for this, but I thought I’d throw in my $0.02:
I’m vegetarian, have been since birth. My dad used to be an amateur bodybuilder in India, patterned himself after Steve Reeves. The idea for some Hindus in being vegetarian is that if you can minimize suffering, you should. You can never eliminate suffering, and if it comes down to you and something else living, it ought not to be the other thing, fine.
That being said, if you’re going to go vegetarian, you should eat Indian food. The vegetarian diet in India is unmatched, in my (not so biased) opinion , when it comes to getting all the nutrients you need.
I guess it boils down to research. For example, till last week, I’d been using cytosport’s muscle gain shake. Ugh! Farts like you wouldn’t believe and didn’t feel satiated at all. Enter Metabolic Drive, and I feel great and don’t fart (as much).
To the original poster, congratulations, you’ve found what works for you. More power to you. I wish you only the best in your endeavours.
I was a vegetarian for over a decade, after a sudden decision one Christmas that I made with my then gf. Couldn’t go vegan, but tried to avoid cheese with rennet and stuff like that. It was an ethical decision based on the gaul of believing that all was just for humans, and that the raising of meat contributes greatly to the demise of the environment . It wasn’t easy, but I learned and was healthy.
A decade later I met my ex-wife, whose Japanese family I appeased by eating fish. Man, was sushi a great frickin’ surprise. Well, after the divorce (sniff) I kept eating the fish. Eventually I got caught in my own ethical arguments; how could I determine which animals were sentient and which weren’t?
I couldn’t so I just started eating everything again.
I feel great and my diet and health has never been better. That said, I still feel guilty a bit at times, but I have a nice hunk of beef in the fridge and will eat some great shrimp tonight.
One thing I found as a vegetarian is that usually people, upon discovering my choice of diet, would begin to qualify their own eating habits - I don’t eat that much meat, only occasionally - as if I were judging them when I had said nothing of the sort. I was not an evangelical type, in fact I was quiet about it - it was just a personal choice.
To sum up at last,to the OP, I share your joy; I still remember my first steak after the long, lean years. It’s the best cheat meal ever.
China also has a long, long history of vegetarianism, coming from Indian Buddhism, and there are plenty of choices here, which is a strange thing considering the generally brutal attitude the Chinese have towards animals.
I tried to keep my diet clean while I was a vegetarian, but eating over a 3000 calorie diet usually meant a lot of carbs. Carbs make me blow up. If I do a no carb day, then eat a dinner with a bunch of carbs, I look like I gained 10 pounds (and not a good 10 pounds). I did a superdrol cycle and gained like 15 pounds, 10 of which were fat. It was too hard to get quality protein (I tried not to eat soy) without downing 6 shakes a day. I spent my life researching and cooking.
Working full time and being in college full time, it just made me pissed off when I had to spend an hour cooking and cleaning. I wish I had the resolve you vegetarians have and I give you props.
I think what triggered it the most was breaking up with my girlfriend and feeling this need to look good so I can catch a hot lady. I like animals, but I love girls. Later.
Oh yeah, I had a quick question and I didnt want to start another thread. I am doing the Anabolic Diet, and was wondering about lentils. 1 serving has 17 grams of carbs, but 9 are dietary fiber. Is that cool, or do i count the fiber too?
As a recovered vegan this thread hits home. Eat big, get big. Time to finish my chicken wings.
Sad but true facts about me:
I’ve seriously comtemplated sneaking up on a cow in a farm field, slitting it’s throat and loading the whole 1,200 lbs of free beef into my truck. Seriously who would know that one cow out of 500 is gone and by the time they figure out I could have gone back to snatch 3 or 4 more. Oh the things I’ll do for meat.

I personally don’t count the fiber towards my carbs, but I don’t remember what Mauro says about it in the book. From the Anabolic Diet thread (which I suggest you read as much as possible), I got the impression that most people don’t count their fiber towards their carbs, since if it doesn’t get digested, it doesn’t affect your metabolism or insulin/GH/test situation.
But really, there’s alot of knowledge and experience in this long ass thread.

Good luck.
As far as the guilt thing is concerned, what exactly is it about the way the animals are raised and slaughtered causes the conflict. Where I grew up, there were cows in fields and chickens in chicken coops, and they all seemed reasonable happy until they became dinner. I don’t know about pigs. And in terms of slaughter, there’s no gentle way to kill something, so is it the slaughter itself, or is there some potential way that’s considered “more polite” or something?
Just looking to educate my carnivorous mind. Being on the Anabolic Diet myself, and having known the name of several of the “contributors” to my meals when I was growing up, I would
be tough to convince to give up meat, but I’d like to understand the issue.
Bullmoose:
If you go to places like peta.org, or meetyourmeat.com you’ll see where the problem lies for some people. Agribusiness (i think thats how you spell it), which is the factory farming methods, causes the animals to live horrible lives from birth.
If I talk about it too much, I may convince myself not to eat meat again. My girlfriend and I watched a video off one of those sites and it literally made us cry. I’m going to continue to eat meat, but I think people should still do things to minimize suffering, even if there a conspiracy behind it.
Buy free range meat and eggs for an example. I think if everyone did a little, we wouldn’t have crazy hippy extremists trying to save the world themselves. Later.

The only thing you could do to better that is by eating all 1200 lbs in one sitting.
I was having a conversation with my mom the other day and she was saying how when she was going to college, everyone went to school and became vegetarians, now me and my friends went away and came back carnivores. God Save the Meat!

What’s with the guilt thing? I don’t get it. I’m not being an ass, but I can’t wrap my head around the idea that humans should not eat meat just because we realize we don’t have to. God made all these fast reproducing, grass grazing, protein packed, walking slabs of goodness for those that can digest them. We fall in that category. And we are at the top of the food chain. There is no need for guilt from doing what nature has set forth. I guess I’ll never understand.
I hear ya man, but my parents are still practicing and man, can they just crank that guilt machine! esp when we were raised in an Eastern philosophy of hinduism/buddhism, it comes with some spiritual blackmail, so, am tryin to get over it!
