A couple of buddies and I have been on the lookout for the best burgers in Houston. There are a few spots that have made it near the top but there’s no clear cut winner. The old Charlies Hamburgers were pretty killer, as is Millers Cafe, Lankfords, King Biscuit, Southwells and a few others. So, I know there’s a lot of Houstonians here. What are some of y’alls favorite burger spots? Wasn’t impressed with 5 Guys or Smash Burger, for the record.
Beck’s Prime is a solid stand by.
Bill’s Cafe up in Kingwood is tasty, but probably not worth driving up to the 'burbs just for a burger. Perry’s (original butcher shop location) in Friendswood ditto.
Pappas Burger on Westheimer is solid
Christian’s Tailgate in midtown is supposed to be good, but I’ve never tried it.
Millers Cafe does do a good job.
Wanted to add I didn’t mean to include Lankfords. Don’t remember the name of where I’m thinking of. Lankford’s is overrated.

Becks is alright, but basically glorified fastfood. Pappas is pretty good. Christians is killer man. There’s one in the Heights as well. If I’m ever up in the Kingwood or Friendswood area I’ll check those joints out.

I might have to come up with an excuse to take a late lunch and go to Christian’s and not go back to work one of these days.

The Midtown location is much nicer.
screw burgers…Fogo de chao (Brazilian Steakhouse) FTW Westheimer and Dunvale…near Guitar center
Otto’s BBQ in Sugarland makes a decent burger its off 59, but their brisket is the most memorable
Bubbas Texas Burger Shack off 59 was decent
Avalon Diner in Sugarland makes an excellent breakfast burger with 2 eggs on it.
Those are all I can remember off the top of my head
I like this thread, just moved to the south side of Houston less than a year ago. Burgers are my #1 goto when I can eat carbs. Still looking for a good one on the south side.
Crack burgers.
At least, that’s what we called them in high school. They were sold out of a shack in a part of town some of you might avoid…but there have been none better.
I prefer eating mom and pop and small established burger places so try these out.

What part of town? Sams burgers in 3rd ward across the street from Peggy Park were some of the best, but it closed a few years back.

Dude, today’s Princes has NOTHING on the original Princes on Main. They closed it when I was fairly young but I still remember it pretty vividly. Ate at the Big Red Cock [yes, that’s what it’s called] on Saturday with a buddy and had the McCock. It was a bacon cheddar cheese burger with a fried egg on top served on an english muffin. It was killer.
