Just have to say these videos are awesome. I have been getting more and more interested in strength/powerlifting and your videos and strength really make me more interested.
Whats your diet look like normally? How many cals you take in and what not? Did you realy have to pound the food to get up to your weight or are you just naturally larger?
Hey man your vids are amazing and definitely give me that motivation. I was just wondering, when do you go for rep maxes and when you go for your 3/5/1 version? Will definitely be following!
Ben, if you dont mind me asking a few questions about assistance work.
How do you determine your assistance work for each training day?
Do you keep the same movements for a full cycle, change each week or what?
How do you determine your volume for assistance work?
Ben you’re a hoss, can’t wait for the nutrition vid!
Epic story by the way getting kicked off of the team LOL

I have always been naturally a Big guy. 6th Grade I weighed 150, 8th Grade weighed 190 9th Grade 215 , Senior year 240 Once I hit 255-260 I really started to have to slam the food down! I take in around 5,000-6,000 Cals. a day when i maintain weight and I’ll take in 10,000-12,000 when i am Bulking.

When I run 3/5/1 I run it with added heavy singles after the max rep set this is how I set it up:
3’s Week Max Rep with adjusted 90% then 3 Singles with Actual 90% (1 minutes rest between singles)
5’s Week Hit a 5 rep with adjusted 85% No Singles
1’s Week Max Rep with adjusted 95% then 3 Singles with Actual 95% (2 minutes rest between singles)

I do all my Assistance work off of feel (Example if I feel Weak at the top of the bench Triceps if i’m week off the bottom Incline DB PREss)
I typically like to do 4-5 Working Sets that range from 8-12 Reps I will Occassionally throw in a Heavy 6 Rep in here and there. I don’t ever know what my assistance work will be untill after my Top Set.
