If the Democrats lose it’s going to be because of the economy. Everything else is invented shit trying to make it seem like this should be an easy win for them but they aren’t doing the right thing. No it should be a super easy win for Republicans. As in don’t even bother showing up.
If you had a normal Republican right now in office they are polling at least 8 points ahead of even Biden. With the economy like this Dems should lose with a Jesus/Ghandi ticket.

It may very well in the case of suicides. I wasn’t speaking about suicides, but multiple victim public homicides. I’m not sure how you can measure something like the impact of means reduction with extraordinarily rare events, especially in countries with small populations. Australia is a good example. Their 1 in a 20 million guy came around. They passed restrictive firearms laws. A similar event hasn’t taken place. This is often held up by gun control advocates as the gold standard of what countries with gun rights should be doing.
Fair enough. But is their lack of a repeat event because of their laws, or because their population is only 26 million? It is entirely possible that nobody else in that population has experienced these impulses and acted on them. Likewise, it is entirely possible that the next Australian who both has these impulses and ends up acting on them is just finishing up elementary school right now.
Impossible to know, impossible to measure.

At the very least maybe we wouldn’t have pictures like this. When you have churches that give away and have raffles for guns you know you’re in some type of rabid gun humping country. I’m by no means a get rid of all guns guy but holy shit we love them.

Really? Let’s look at rampage killings (not completely overlapping with mass shootings) in Europe for comparison, to avoid the subjective effect of US political debate. The list does not include terror attacks.
If we sort by number of victims (descending) and check the Wikipedia links for the specific crimes, in the majority of cases we get a common denominator, guess which one?

Also, it’s worth noting that a murder spree not linked to Islamic terrorism and committed with other means (a car rammed into a crowd and a knife used afterwards) is 93rd on the list.
I’m not sure how your examples bolster your case. Are not the means of acquiring semi-automatic rifles already reduced in Eurpoe? And isn’t it far beyond what could ever be achieved in the US, given the number in circulation?
I’m not sure if this is tongue in cheek or not but in case it isn’t nothing really. I was using it to describe the fact that we are a gun humping society and being tongue in cheek myself by saying we wouldn’t have to see pictures like that.
The fact that it says Trump has no effect on me anymore than someone who spelled Obama, cunt, or fuck with them.
It was a bit of both, to be honest. It sounds silly when you think about it like that, but there are people who consider a picture like that to be an act of violence. I’ve never understood how that works.
That makes no sense to anyone rational but I also think it’s at the minimum weird that someone would think “let me get out my Arsenal today and spell words with them.” Since everyone wants to bring up mental health 
I’m stating the obvious that means do matter, and that “oh, he/she will find another way” argument is bullshit.
People don’t build fertilizer bombs in a fit of pique. The same way as having a gun in your household increases the chances of blowing your brains out, access to semi automatic and automatic weapons has an effect on the body count when perpetrators go on the rampage.

Well, it seems as though we’ve answered the question on that. There doesn’t appear to be a need to find another way when the black market gets the job done. All in a land where the laws we’re told we need already exist.
So perhaps we in the US can look forward to a reduction in public massacres with rifles 100-200 years after the most comprehensive and difficult-to-implement gun confiscation scheme in history somehow succeeds, when the guns are finally out of circulation…
This is true and documented. When having suicidal thoughts the first thing to do is remove whatever the person is ruminating on. If they are thinking of taking pills you remove pills, thinking of getting in a high speed wreck you remove the car keys.
A gun is quick simple and easy and has almost nothing to stop it from being fatal. Lives are saved every day with pumped stomachs from attempted overdoses. Yes anyone who truly wants to die will find a way but most people don’t. The thoughts aren’t typically that consistent.

Incidentally, in all but one of those cases I’ve listed weapons were acquired legally, with the remaining case was an AK-47 taken from military service .
Here’s a US-style school attack in Sweden four years ago, committed by a Nazi worshiping extreme right wing loner with a hatred of immigrants. Notice how the body count is much, much lower than in similar incidents in the US? That will happen when you only have a sword instead of an AR-15
We could always say we can’t do anything and hope the problem resolves itself. Doesn’t seem like that’s working real well right now.
It would also make tons of sense to do anything today you thought would save lives down the road no matter what the topic.
