Being at a Dead-End Job

Hello,

So, I got some news on my situation / position.

Last week we were announced that the founders of the company were leaving and sold they shares to the managers and to an investment fund, which is going to be the leading shareholder.

The first thing they did was cutting marketing costs, and I was working at marketing / sales support. So, they told me in december that I was going to be in a new position, tried to sell me this, and that I will have this new manager.

Fact is that he was a manager last year, (even with less XP, qualification, than me), and they did not want to introduce new managers in the buy-out.

I had my review last week and this was bad.

First, I learnt that the job description they gave me in december is not what will happen. I am going to go to sales department - my former department, where I had very good results - something I did not want to, in a team of guys fresh out of the school, with this new manager. They put me here because they killed marketing costs, despite the company great results in 2013, and wanted to see me where I would make money.

I asked for a raise, explaining that I acquired a lot of skills, etc… But this was blah. The whole review was blah, like “good work, can do better in management skills, still not a leader” (hey, I had no team ? Who was I supposed to manage or whatever ?), and they gave me a 3,1% raise, which is by far the worst raise I had in my life, while the company was doing +20% in turnover, and +80% margin !

I said this was less than I expected and asked, and that I did not take this as a motivator : they said I will have international sales to manage, with travelling, etc… and said “look, it’s an opportunity !!”, like this was a gift. In some ways, yeah, it s cool, but…

I don’t know what to do right now. I will definately look for something else, I think.

I think what T-Nation needs at this point is a race between you and I. A race to see who can get an offer from a different employer for more than what is offered to us by our current employer.

I love it how you guys are getting raises and bitch about it. The economy has been shit for the past few years and most people’s wages have been frozen if not decreased from being under-employed or had hours reduced. But hey I’m sure you’re all God’s gift to your respective employers. Everyone complains about how there are so many lazy co-workers and shitty drivers on the road. But, nobody ever admits that they suck…so I guess it is always somebody else that blows chunks.

On a more helpful/positive note: The FAA will be posting an open bid to the public on usajobs.gov for ATC on/around Feb 10th. If you are under appreciated at your current job you could always apply for that and hope you get picked up over the next couple years. Awesome job, amazing pay and benefits. Just have to be a U.S. citizen, less than 31 years of age; 4 year bachelor degree or 3 years progressive work experience or a combo of the two. /End of me being helpful…bring on the fucking HATE!!!

MAAAN, don’t be telling people about that. The last thing we need especially CTI grads is more people applying.

Psssh, for better or worse I’m already in so it doesn’t matter to me who all applies as long as they can do the job. I’ll probably go TROLL stuckmic here in a lil bit…you know for the lulz.

You could always ask for a rupture conventionnelle, get out of there, and then find something else.

Uh…Bonjour, parle-vous francais monsieur, madam, mademoiselle. Je suis le patron. Mert. Sacre-bleu. All Blacks magnifique, Les Bleus mert deteste, Hollande amourette Gayet, Sarkozy. Croissant, Parisian, wawa kiss.

I thought about explaining that a rupture conventionnelle is a mutual termination of contract between an employer and employee whereby the employee gets a lump sum payout and retains their eligibility for unemployment benefits, but I knew you’d get what I meant.
