You are speaking to someone who used to write song lyrics on the inside of his textbooks and then spend all weekend turning that into an entire song.
Maybe you are the one underestimating the rest of us.
If YOU spend a lot of time in museums, I’m afraid you didn’t learn a lot about art.
Of course it CAN be subjective but to dismiss it so lightly on the basis of good 'ol prudery is pure ignorance.
Wait, you assume I don’t know anything about art because I don’t find “my second daughter will be born a nonvirgin” and getting screwed in the ass by a homeless person to be anything even resembling art?

I’m sorry, but what exactly is your own extensive background? I am really hoping you attended some accredited art school or else you are truly full of shit.
You seriously didn’t know that the “Non Virgin” Daughter video was just a ranting? The other videos;“Beautiful Monster”,“Entrophy”,ect.,is his art.

LOL!!!

What was he “ranting” against?

bs! I even did’t see the video.

So I need “an extensive art background” to argue with you about art? Right.
How about a bodybuilding degree to argue about muscle and exercise?

Just engage my arguments.
(btw, I do have an art background)

A “Rant” doesn’t have to be against anything. He was just presenting an idea over the internet for us to hear. We are all better for it.

We are all better off because of agriculture…math…and double d implants.

Please explain in detail how we are all better off because he talks about piercing his daughter’s ass and feet.

History will tell whether or not it is truly art. If the vid somehow defines and gives birth to a new school or era of expression through a given media, then it will be art.

Otherwise, its just some guy getting fucked in the ass by a hobo.

The classics are classics for a good reason.

The argument means that art is often at the forefront of liberal ideas.
Basically, you can take everything for granted. You can choose not to question slavery , for instance.

Art often deliberately tries to question anything and everything.

This is especially true with and within artistic movements.
Artists often feel that some forms of expression have been extensively and thoroughly investigated by others. So they try something radically new, often going completely against the grain and established rules.
Impressionists paintings, stuff that lots of folks today have in their living room, were considered deviant, crazy. Educated people were rioting.

You can imagine that ignorant comments like yours (“…needs an ass-whipping”) were taken literally and as an excuse to treat modern artists sometimes very cruelly.

It’s basically an old fight against establishment.

p.s. you could argue, espcially from a t-man’s perspective, if agriculture was good for mankind.

As already said, “classics” had often trouble in their time.

And if you want to let history decide, let her decide.

I didn’t say what I though of it one way or the other, did I?

Honestly though, do you see some modern renaissance coming from this piece?

Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet… even the great Caravaggio…they were all criticized for making works that were considered non-art in their own time.
Iron Dwarf wrote:

…and the reality is, for every single Monet, there were THOUSANDS of “starving artists” who thought they would be the next artistic revolution that wasted their time.

Every groundbreaking genius in history was once thought to be eccentric and mad…yet people use this today to make it seem that because they are not accepted that this makes them a genius.

Yes, Mike Mentzer said the same thing.

True.

As to a modern renaissance:
First, it doesn’t have to, does it?
Also, a movement somtimes needs a lot of people who just push a bit into one not very well defined diretion. Eventually, something might come out of it.

Finally, there are famous artists like Michelangelo, who produced only very few works (paintings in his case, although he did other works, too), but an abundance of sketches and ideas.

You imply Frank wastes his time because he doesn’t impress you right now.

I don’t have to IMPLY anything. I have already written what I think of the “art” I commented on.

The man “rants” about piercing asses and feet and his faithful claim that isn’t the ART. The homeless screw is the ART.

I never used the words ‘genius’, or ‘revolution’.

I’m only stating that often the pendulum must swing radically to one side until what normally is offensive now becomes norm.

Even that dope G.W. Bush said “Let’s let history determine whether I was a good president or not”.

This is not only true with artists, but just making history - good or bad - is often the goal.

But that isn’t just “art”…and very often you can see what has potential to be “great” and what doesn’t.

You had idiots in 1980 claiming rap was just a fad. 30 years later, Hip Hop dominates the globe. Those of us following the music, however, were never surprised by this.

The truth is, I try my hand at art as well. I’ve drawn in pencil since I was a little kid, wrote music and complete songs. This isn’t a discussion with someone who does not have an open mind…which is why the insults from Schwarz as if we just can’t understand the ART is ridiculous.

Did you watch his “RANT”?

Were you moved?

His words don’t even bring out any emotion. The only reason it is worth a discussion now is because I am waiting for someone to show me the ART.

I haven’t seen the homeless vid.
I merely dispute that it CANNOT be art.

A sexual act can, OF COURSE, be art.

So, you are talking out of your ass.

Who here has said sex itself can not be art?

Anyone?

Didn’t think so.

So why are you typing so much?
Professor X wrote:

BOOM.

One of his sculptures.

You seem to be playing catch up…so let me make this crystal clear for you.

I like sculptures. If the discussion was now surrounding a random sculpture alone, I doubt there would be a discussion.

I keep referencing very specific issues…and you keep leaping past them.

You are the one who claimed his RANT isn’t the art.

Why is that?

Most of his videos I’ve seen don’t elicit an emotional response.

They are just words and random actions that he seems to think will cause that reaction.
